I'm buying. I can't recall a JC class that contributed this much right off the bat. In fact, without these guys, we're completely screwed this year. I know we've had some great JC players, but it was usually just 1 or 2 each class that really helped.

H. Hutchins
S. Brauchle
L. Berry
C. White
P. McPhee

and of course Langston apparently will be the next Smoot/Molds/Norwood.

And as much as this class has contributed thus far, I think Jackie Parker by himself did more for MSU.</p>

I'd guarantee a bowl game with those guys on the team today. Maybe the Peach if the offense got better every week.

Who were the JUCO signees in the big defensive class under Jackie that just killed us? I am thinking of Richard Ball, Korey Banks, Walter Burdett, Demetric Wright, Corey Brown, Kamau Jackson, Khalil Nash, Danny Snyder, and Michael Oyfesobi. Are these correct? I am only naming 9. It seems like there were 11 or 12 on defense.

with JUCOs until this class. It is almost like they believed they had the magic touch with JUCOs. This class was the beginning of the end. An absolute waste. Not a good one in the bunch.

there were actually 2 NFL linemen in that class - ronald fields and tommy kelly. we all know how much of a team player kelly was in college. we should rename the new campus bicycles to the "Kamau Jackson Campus Bicycle Program."

I remember it being a big deal that we signed an entire defense from JUCO. We had 5 DL (Nash, Snyder, Oyefesobi, Broussard, Kelly), 2 LB (Jackson, Brown), and 4 DB (Wright, Banks, Ball, Burdett).

The 3 from Arizona Western sucked, Kelly underachieved, Broussard was shot and killed in a mistaken-identity crime, Jackson was fair, Brown did nothing, Ball and Burdett never contributed, Wright got toasted constantly, and Banks was feast or famine.

Still a failure. Not that it is anyone's fault, but his injury is just another contributing factor to the death nail that recruiting class turned out to be.

It's not fair to list CoCo Hodge in that group. CoCo had the skills. No one could have known he'd get nerve damage and never play aGAIN.
CoCo NEVER PLAYED A DOWN AT MSU!! That doesn't exactly help a recruiting class. I know it is not his fault. But a guy that gets nerve damage and never plays or gets shot and killed in a parking lot (Broussard) doesn't help you win. CoCo was a huge contributor to a horrible recruiting class. Everything went wrong. Injuries, poor talent, transfers, etc. That class killed us. Heck, Clarence McDougal was a decent player out of that class, but even he never reached full potential after the knee injury in the all-star game. That class was snake-bit.

To make matters worse (please correct me if I am wrong), I think Tommy Kelly and Demetric Wright stayed in a hotel which resulted in part of our probation which resulted in Croom's hiring so that the NCAA would go easier on us when dishing out penalties. Therefore, that class helped get us 5 years of Croom (pause and let that sink in).
