Buy/Sell: Tim Tebow will be a good starting quarterback in the NFL.

It just seems like the talking heads have been piling on him lately but he showed flashes of being a pretty decent QB last year. I think he will just be a rather unorthodox QB but will still win a bunch of games as a starter before he is done.

Plus, when he gets under pressure, he goes back to that incredibly slow throwing motion. I like the guy but he just isn't a QB. To be an NFL QB, you must first and foremost, be able to throw the ball and hit a receiver. He cannot do that with 80% of the time. Hell, on the one loop that ESPN shows over and over of him throwing a 10 yard slant to a wideout with no defense, the receiver has to almost stop completely and reach back for the ball. He doesn't have the better athletes in the NFL like he did at UF. He does make some good plays but there are just too few and too far in between.

To be a successful NFL QB, you have to be consistently very goodand then great on more plays than not... He is mediocre and then is great on some plays and awful on others.

I got a kick on ESPN they went into a little analyst mode on the Denver game on the late sportscenter. Hasselback did show "his one good pass" which was a long pass in the middle. Then they showed a pass where he rolls left and bounced it to an open receiver. On this play they freeze it and highlight it to show "bad" footwork and how he was not in a good position to complete that pass and this proves how is he not going to be good and is not ready.

Later on they give his stats and he is 6 for 7. SO that was his 1 incomplete pass but they use it and highlight it to prove what they think about him is right.

Maybe not a hall of famer, but definately a winner.

of football. He works his *** off to be in shape, and I'd bet he studies harder than just about any qb in the league. Is he better than Kyle Orton in the Denver system right now? No, probably not. But give him some game experience in the NFL and I think he could change how all qb's in the NFL HAVE to be. Kyle Orton isn't gonna win Denver a Super Bowl, so why not give Tebow the reigns and let him get better and see what happens.

Being a good starting QB in the NFL shouldn't be a goal. Winning is the goal. It's the only goal. If I'm a coach, I don't care if Tebow is good. I care if Tebow can help win games. Winning is all that matters. Stats and throwing motion are all things that can contribute to winning, but winning is the only thing that counts. I do think the talking heads on TV get hung up on numbers and prototypes, and sometimes lose track of the main goal, THE ONLY GOAL.

I think Tebow can help a team win games if in the right system. One thing he can do similar to Cam Newton at Auburn and Vick at Philadelphia is keep a drive alive on 3rd down when everyone is covered. He can also +1 a defense in the box. He can make a defense use a spy which means the defense either loses a rusher or coverage man. He can affect the defense's stunts because you have to pass rush with a design of keeping him in the pocket. I don't think he fits everywhere. But with the right team I think he can win.

To be honest, I am not even talking about a completion percentage. I am talking about the throws he makes. He, too often, does not hit a receiver in stride. He does not hit the back out of the backfield in a way that the back can make a play after the catch. He too often throws a checkdown where the receiver is dead to rights before he can even turn around. Its not about the stats to me, its about the WAY he completes passes. I am not saying that he should be Marino or Montana but he has never shown a real ability to do this.

I like Tebow. I hope he can be successful. I think he really is as much of a 'saint' as he appears to be. Plus, the better he does, the more Mullen can claim him as a success story.

2nd teamers but it doesn't have to be pretty to be effective. I still think that mainly his work ethic will make him a winner... eventually
