borderline at this point

It really depends on his senior season. Sure, he is projected to be a top 15 QB right now but he can't slip backward any and get drafted.

I think he will improve his status and he will be drafted myself but I am more optimistic about this season than many.

Buy, Perkins is rated #1 SEC #8 overall for the draft too. Gabe Jackson is the #2 overall OG right now. He'll probably go 1st round.

can't coach size. He is in the frame of Mallet without the same offense, numbers, or bad 'tude. He's accuate, good arm strength the only thing is faster decision making, maybe a quicker release. he's smart, he can do it.

I say late 3rd possible with a great year this year. probably 4-5th round.

He doesn't have Mallett's arm- that dude has a cannon.

I'd go round 5. Hopefully a good showing this year gets him to 4 or 3.

His game translates well to the NFL. If he could find a little bit more mobility, he would be drafted much higher. Oh, and he is able to continue to thread passes in there (UT game). That luck ran out towards seasons end.

Sell. Do y'all think Russell is a top 10 Qb? I would be surprised if they draft 10 qbs this year, even though this qb class is pretty damn talented. I can also promise 15 quarterbacks won't be drafted and that's (on average) where Russell is ranked. I think he will be a good free agent pick up though.

I think Russell will be one of those QB's that gets little attention throughout the season, but when the season ends and the draft approaches I could see him gaining big momentum after going to workouts and camps. He has a big time arm that is very accurate, smart guy, coachable, solid interview, etc...so he should be a guy that impresses the NFL enough to get drafted.

I'm on the fence but right now I'd say he's a 6-7 round selection but a good Sr. season and/or combine could move him up to the 3rd.

Good point. For reference, there were 11 QBs taken in both 2012 and 2011 drafts. If only 11 on average are taken per year, then #15 ranking won't cut it.

Well, no joke. I think everybody acknowledges that if the draft were right now he wouldn't get drafted, but we are (or else, I am) basing it on after this upcoming season. Obviously if he is still ranked #15 at the time of the draft then he likely won't be drafted. We are all saying that he will improve his stock enough to be drafted.

I thought this was a given.

SELL SELL SELL!! Concrete Feet, Windup Throwing Action & Slow Decision Making...

Isn't exactly what a NFL team is looking for. If he makes a team, most likely will be a Free Agent signing.

I understand what you're saying but I just can't imagine his stock going up. His momentum right now is going downward. Think of his pathetic performances the last few weeks of the season and the bowl game debacle.

He's a good quarterback and a great kid, but if I was a GM I wouldn't waste a 3rd, 4th, or even 7th round draft pick on a qb that has as many flaws as Russell has.

There have been 15 straight drafts with >10 QBs in them... and this is a "talented" class that will have the fewest QBs drafted since Payton Manning and Ryan Leak were drafted?

I'm glad they didn't waste a first round pick on Tim Tebow with all his flaws. Even worse than what you said, I can't believe the Mannings invited TR to their passing academy with so many flaws.** (Maybe they thought he could use the help.)

I don't even know where to begin with this post. It is Full of fail.

Last year was his first season as the starter going in. I would say he had a pretty solid first season in the SEC. Could it have been better? Sure. But to say "I can't imagine his stock going up" is just ridiculous. So a year of experience in the SEC, a more experienced O-Line, thus a better running game, etc, should all make him a better QB. Plus, our defense will be better thus keeping us in more games and allowing us to be more balanced.

Im not saying we will be great, and Im not saying Russell WILL get drafted....but to act like his stock can't rise is beyond absurd.

I'm not saying his stock cant rise, I'm saying it won't rise. He's just not an nfl caliber quarterback. I don't care about all this "he has the frame" bull. He lacks physical ability, has 0 consistency, and is overall an above average college quarterback. Nothing more. Nothing less.

To say my claims are "full of fail" is kind of ironic considering most of you in here are picking Russell as a sleeper pick just because he's a likable guy and plays for state.

I like the guy, but he's not some type of potential filled stud. What we saw last year is exactly what we'll see this year. He goes off against sub-par talent and chokes against the best.

I'm going to love reading this thread come draft night.

He's a good qb. However, he is not good enough to get drafted. I'm not attacking TR, I think he deserved to goto that camp.

Agree with you, Son. Just from a fan perspective I just don't see the football intangibles of an NFL QB in Russell. I think he will be a free agent because his physical skill set is there to be developed. It's much harder to develop the mental thing.

So you're saying it's a Fact that he won't get drafted because it is your Opinion that he won't improve enough? Great logic.

And again, nobody is saying it's a guarantee that he will...we are just saying that he could improve enough to get drafted, and he COULD.

Sell big time. I love TR, but the QB market isn't what it used to be. I think a lot of you are expressing a good amount of bias.

Look at the last several drafts. You're either a phenom and get drafted in the 1st or you're a REALLY good college QB who goes middle rounds. TR isn't good enough to be taken in the top 3 rounds and after that the draft moves away from best available for the most part to needs. No one needs a QB, and the QB market used to be a big deal so there are 100 veteran QB's still in playing shape who have started 10-50 games in their careers who will take the same amount of money as a rookie to back someone up.

Look no further than Tulane's QB this past year. I don't think Tyler has as much potential as that guy, and he was billed as Brees' potential successor. Projected 7th round. Went undrafted.

I love Tyler, but he doesn't have a pro skill-set. I'd love to be proven wrong though. If he fixes every hitch in his game this off-season and throws for 3,500 yards and looks good even against top rated opponent, I think he could be a middle round guy. I would gladly eat crow.

There are dozens of QB's with Tyler's elite throwing arm that are draft eligible every year from every division of football. Only 5-10 get drafted because they also have elite feet and vision that he currently doesn't possess. Just being realistic here. He's AJ's ***** and I don't even see AJ going very high. I haven't looked at your rankings, but I don't care if he's high on them. AJ won't be taken early.

I think he'll have a great season. He is making improvements. He's got the O-line coming back. Losing Bumphis sucks, I don't see any of the other recievers being that hard to replace or at least there being much of a dropoff at wr. Having talented healthy TEs will be a huge help for him. So if he stays healthy, I could see him being a late-round draft pick.

Or maybe Jadaveon Clowney kills and eats him in the SC game and he thus becomes a part Clowney and is drafted #1 overall.
