He sure wasn't bitching about all the cheers and adulation the Rebel fans have been giving him the past 11 months.

Also, I buy that Nutt needs to reign these guys in a bit when it comes to their communication. Although, this almost has a feel to it like when Crooms used to pit our guys against the fans as a motivator. I wonder if Nutt is orchestrating some of this.

needs to play better, and addressed rumors going around. He did not pick out what SN used as the headline. Sure, he whined a little bit, but overall, it doesn't bother me 1/10th what Sowell said. Hell, it had to be hard to write all that. He addressed criticism. That's what I want to see. Better than avoiding it.

is a bit ridiculous. answer questions during the interviews after the games and then go about the task at hand which is to concentrate on the next game and win it.

hell, i'd rather the coaches not allow their guys to talk to the press at all during the season.

Not necessarily by the content, but the fact that he took the time to write this and find someone to publish it. He needs to focus on practicing and improving his play, not writing a glorified blog entry.

even worse. i don't care about the time it takes. it is a distraction. he is a quarterback not a reporter. let the staff talk to the press. if this season goes south for you guys it would be interesting to see how he continues to respond.

Sometimes you want to tell
everyone to chill out a little bit. We
played two really good teams.
South Carolina has great defense,
and I think if they played Georgia
again, they'd win that game.
They're really close to being
unbeaten. And Alabama, I think
we all know they are a really good
team-and not just because of their
ranking.
That is off the charts rationalizing/whining. Very similar to some Croom type quotes.

I don't think him skipping this would make a damn bit of difference. And when you agree to it before the season, it's ***** to back out. Lots of players have done this before.

and i agree it isn't a HUGE distraction but it is a distraction. i just think it is better for the coaches to handle the press and for the players to get it done on the field. i would say the same thing if this was any of the MSU guys doing the same thing.

i must also say here that i am one of the guys that doesn't like the coaches interview as they are running in at half time and i am not a fan of creepy write ups by pornfro type old men who have to know about pizza toppings and such. i watch sports for the battle on the field and don't get too caught up in the "great stories" that the likes of ESPN tries to tell.

that was still some whiney ****. You can deny the rumors without whining about people talking about your personal life. When you're a Heisman Trophy candidate (like he was), people are going to do that. And I think we all know that the team feels bad when they lose a game. When you don't live up to expectations, fans are going to be disappointed. They don't need to be told to shut up because the team feels worse.

it has to have some influence on him even if minor.

what if the dude has a 6 pic game like Henig against LSU? if someone were to tell me that he isn't worried about what in the hell he is going to write in his diary in the coming week then i would tell them they are nuts. the fact that he agreed to do it regularly is actually worse.

edit to add: the whiny nature of this one is pretty bad too but at least he took some of the blame.

As much as people are jumping all over your team, I still think you'll wind up with 8 or 9 wins, which is basically where I predicted you to be earlier in the season (9-3). A couple of wins and all the backbiting between the players and the fans will be forgotten.</p>

sure our offense is much worse than expected, but our defense is much better, and I don't see any games we can't win the rest of the way. Obviously we need some improvments, but I don't think it's impossible.

You may not get caught up in the side stories, but a lot of people obviously do.

I don't buy that it affects his play. I think his own head is his problem, not this weekly diary.

Keep your bitching in house. And to think this child was though of by many Ole Miss fans a a Heisman contender.........typical Ole Miss. Nice article. He seems really focused. Because the first thing a focused, mentally strong QB does is write an article to the Sporting News about how the fans are bothering him.

Actually, that moniker was slapped on me for bashing other people for whining and complaining. I'm trying to stop bashing people, but "right-to-*****" folks like JohnDawg make it hard.

I read it and it's not too bad. Sounds like he was bummed from the loss. A little whiny? Maybe, but not too bad. Glad it is not my QB, but I wouldn't be embarrassed.

I would be more embarrassed by the way he has played on the field but he's still doing a good just job of being turrible in more than one way.

First off, real men have journals, not diaries...and even that can be gay unless you are Meriwether 17in' Lewis. Secondly, the fact that he has an ongoing piece each week seems ridiculous odd to me.

I also find it funny the way he tries to talk up South Carolina, making excuses for why they lost.

the sun musta been extra bright that day. Football players these days are overdoing it with facial accessories and real eye black, some of our players included. Not that I have anything against the color black.

There is probably a staff that writes his weekly "diary" entry. They just ask him what he wants to talk about this week.

"Man why can't the fans just leave me alone? It hurts and stuff what they say."

"Got it Jevan. We'll get to work on that."

I'd say 6-6 is a very real possibility right now and 8-4 is likely. There's no reason UM may not get better but they may get worse. This is just my opinion: UAB = most likely a win Arkansas = 50/50 win Auburn = Loss Northern Arizona = win Tennessee = 50/50 LSU = 60/40 against Rebs. Miss. State = 60/40 in favor of Rebs.
