if you gameplan all week to kick it outside the numbers (of course, that takes execution by the punter), then why in the hell would you call a punt to the middle of the field. Either Stringer is just an idiot or he took the blame.

Croom is a bad football coach and often contradicts himself, but I don't think he is a guy that would chew Stringer's *** for a call in which he overruled Stringer on.

Stringer called something wrong. Croom crawled HIS ***, not McShankums. I don't know that Reed called for a punt to the middle, but he called something wrong.

why would you ever kick a punt in the middle of the field? Isn't it always the goal to get it outside the numbers?

might have had one of those gut feelings. Maybe he felt a little gust of wind and thought McAdams could get it over him.

How many times has McAdams shanked a punt over the years? That tells me he is very inconsistent in where his foot meets the football. He could have very easily been trying to kick the ball down the sidelines and ended up kicking to the middle by mistake. I don't remember what part of the field he punted from (left or right hash or middle). If it was towards the left hash, I could see him easily kicking to the middle by mistake. The ball tends to slice that direction off a right footed kicker anyway.
