All of us at one point have in frusteration said "Man, I could do that." when it comes to our football team. I have been pondering this.

I played high school football. That's it. I have watched a lot of football. That's it. I have never coached a down of football sans calling a play or two in backyard football. Do you think someone with my below average experience could coach an SEC team to three wins.

I, for one, think that an SEC team should never lose to a I-AA team or many teams from non-BCS conferences. The exceptions being Boise State, BYU, TCU having chances to win but being underdogs.

So the buy/sell - Could an average joe that knows a little about football, surrounded by seasoned assistant coaches and having SEC talent at their disposal, win three games a season like Croom has sans last year's fluke?

I buy. If I'm a project lead, I go out and get the best people and vendors that I can. If I hired cheap or hired my friends, I'd get piss poor results. I'd go out and hire the best assistants that I could to make me look better, and then step back and let the experts be the experts. I'd make some executive decsions like when to not go for it on 4th and 15, or when to go for it on 4th and 1 from the opponents 30.

Anyway, I think any Joe could win three at an SEC school. Croom hasn't done anything and its time for him to go. At this point I don't care who we hire but I have confidence that we could hire someone that could win here. How many young, up and coming coaches are licking their chops for a chance to coach in the SEC? Dozens. And I present to you an up and comer who will in fact be coaching a major college team next year ..

Brady Hoke. Could we get him?

Not only is he a Ball State grad, in 6 years there his records have been 4-8, 2-9, 4-7, 5-7, 7-6, and now 10-0. But his wins don't really mean much because they're against MAC schools. If we're going to get someone like that, it needs to be Chris Petersen (Boise), Bronco Mendenhall (BYU), or Kyle Whittingham (Utah).
