The good thing is that we're 2 recruiting classes away from being a pretty good team. We will see a good bit of improvement next year. We have zero depth and I fully expect Cohen to continue to hoard the juco ranks for talent on the hill and the field.
could have won 5 to 7 games in each of his first two years had he been a coach rather than a publicity stunt. Cohen has a true rebuilding(from the ground up) project in front of him but he`ll get the job done because he is coach.
The biggest Croom myth is that the cupboard was bare. It may not have been in a condition to get back to Atlanta, but talent was there. If Cohen gets us to a regional this year he'll have done an excellent job.

Cohen can't be held responsible for this. Baseball, moreso than any other sport, is won by individual players. You can't use hustle and hardwork to cover up for your weaknesses in baseball. It's not really a true team sport as in football and baseball. </p>

I am a big Cohen fan (and an even bigger Polk antagonist), but that ain't even close.
The important thing is that Cohen will fix this situation (and would have fixed a situation as bad football ca. 2003, it would have just taken a little longer) and Croom very clearly couldn't.

that is not a fact. The Auburn loss (which was Croom's first) was not blamed on him. It was blamed on the "mess" that was left by Sherrill. Just like any Mullen losses will be blamed on the "mess" Croom left for him. Even the Maine loss an excuse was made - 3 TO's deep in Maine's territory. There were some pissed off people, even I was pretty pissed. But the loss was excused by the situation that Sherrill left. And he made up for it by beating Florida.

and allow me to interject briefly on the Croom-Maine subject. At the end of the Maine debacle, I posted that Croom was not head coach material and suggested that we would regret the day he was hired. I specifically blamed him for that loss. I don't think I was a lone wolf with that attitude.
I'm no prophet, but I like to think that I have a broad perspective on things. To me, Maine was an obvious red flag. It showed Croom was completely out of his league - the veritable Peter Principle walking around in ample flesh. It showed he had no clue how hard you have to work as a D1 head coach.
Having said that, this business of comparing the Croom debacle to what's going on with Cohen is just f'n retarded. Does anyone seriously worry that Cohen will not work his *** off to bring championships back to vegas? And wait til Byrne & Co. set that hard-charging MFer up with what will no doubt be the most state-of-the-art facility upgrade in college baseball.
