Mullen is serious...

"It is hard to run a spread offense with only two wide receivers on the field. I might put it in the school paper and open up some tryouts for the position because we've got to get some receivers on the team."

I think Art Kehoe ran an ad in the DM when he first got to Ole Miss, looking for offensive linemen. What could it hurt. Though one or two may get serious a look during a tryout, it drum up interest from the student body. No real talent would come from it but he could use the ploy in recruiting (you could start the moment you step on campus) and push the current receivers (step it up).

The way I see it, no real talent comes out, but maybe you can get enough bodies out there to at least be able to teach what you need to teach this spring. None of them will make it to the summer anyway, so why not get a few warm bodies that can at least line up and run routes so the QBs, RBs, OL, and 3-4 legit WRs can learn something this spring as opposed to wasting 15 days of practice.

On a side note, I hope the "freshmens" are ready, bc/ they're going to play, even if they aren't.

is have an auction for people to line up at WR for spring practice. Why stop at coaching? I never played college football, so it would be cool to me.

Now, I would definately make sure that I know what I'm getting into. I mean, I remember what Jamar Chaney did to Shay Hodge a couple of years ago. And I do know that some of the drill are non-contact and if someone was in really bad shape, you could put a non-contact jersey on them. It's not so much the contact I'm worried about, it's the fact that our players have been working out and know what they're doing and are in better shape than me. It's a potential health hazard. And yes, I'm one of those guys that wonders why in the heck someone would pick a fight with a LB at a bar.

I believe a waiver would be necessary.

A wise old coach once said that you can find a wideout on every street corner in Miami. Why doesn't Mullen just go get a few? Does he not know what he is doing?
