You are a top 10 preseason team without much of a recent tradition of stellar success. You would want to play a Texas, USC, Ohio State without a return game that same year you are projected to be top 10.

I want to play 4 chumps, win my conference games, and be 11-1/10-2 at worst going into the championship game.

I think what you're getting at is that it would be a good time to try to get a progam "statement" win I guess, but in that situation, like most, I would want cupcakes, especially as an SEC school. If you're a school from a lesser conference, then I might buy.

I'd trade playing at Memphis this year for playing at OSU. I don't see us making the BCS anyway, and it won't hurt us in the SEC West race.

I would love a chance to knock off a big boy and jump in the national spotlight for real this year.

Beat the hell out of Alabama. That will work fine.

Don't you think if Ole Miss could go back in time, they wouldn't have played Memphis and Texas Tech (a combined 17-9) in 2003, and could have played two crappy teams, they would? 11-1 probably has you in a BCS bowl.

in 2003, wouldn't you replace Texas Tech and Memphis with two patsies? You would have been undefeated playing LSU, probably ranked in the top 5. Even if you lose, you finish 11-1. The other BCS at large team that year was Ohio State at 10-2, you don't think Ole Miss at 11-1 with Eli Manning gets in over them?

I want to beat a big boy. That's it. You have different thoughts about it. That's fine.

But a loss on national television to OSU isn't quite the same as a loss to memphis.

the overriding question is would you replace a probable loss with a sure win?

Take the two 'guaranteed' wins and let the other guys beat each other up...wins over Ala., LSU would be more prestigious

Sell. I want to give my season ticket holders every opportunity to see my Top 10 team play.

We play in the SEC and are pre-season top 10, so we don't need a win over a big non-conference school to get peoples' attention and climb the polls. If we were Boise State, I could see your point. Now, from a micro perspective, sure let's take our best team in years and play an OSU or whoever and see how we match up. I can see that.

and the agreement to travel w/ no reciprocity is an admission that you don't belong in the top ten. If we win the west, UF will be the only "big boy" we need to play.
