This is the most significant Egg Bowl since the game moved to the campuses in terms of differentiating between the two teams.

If MSU wins, win 4 games more than UM and have2 straight bowl games (to their 0) and 3 straight Egg Bowl wins and UM is coming off of arguably the worst season in either school's history. If UM wins, we only win 2 games more than them but what difference does it make since neither of us go to a bowl and they won the Egg Bowl.

I'm buying.

I recall the 2003 UM team having a much better record than we do this year and we were at 2 wins going into the 2003 Egg Bowl.

98 deciding whether we won the West or not was pretty huge, especially considering neither had done it before nor since.

and the last 2 times MSU went into the Egg Bowl NEEDING a win to secure a Bowl, the Dogs choked away their chance.

It is "STATEMENT TIME" for MSU. Are we really the team in this STATE that is on the rise, or just a one hit wonder flash in the pan.

Even if UM had lost to us that year, they still would have finished 8-3 to our 4-7 and would have gone to a bowl. That game didn't affect the perception of the two teams relative to each other. Even if we'd won, everyone would have known that they had the better program at the time.
