On the horror front, I watched:

1. Stopmotion: weird, body horror
2. In A Violent Nature: slow moving, wood setting,
Rehash of every JASON movie you saw
3. Abigail: nice spin on a vampire theme, fun cast.
New one coming up that looks good:
Starve Acre with Daemon Targaryen, folk horror

Update: Abigail will be on the “‘Cock” July 19!

Love Denzel but agree - the laugh is too contemporary. Pascal I’m less worried about - he’s pretty great in everything and doesn’t stick out as much.
What I see when I see Denzel in Gladiator II

Uhhhhhh….

Those folks who rated this movie as 100% have to be crack addicts. Saw it tonight, unfortunately, and it blows big time. Stupid premise, horrible acting, it was actually laughable in some scenes.
Totally ludicrous this is getting compared to classics like Seven. A negative zero rating from me.

And looking further, Oz Perkins, Longlegs director, is the son of Anthony Perkins, horror legend from Psycho. He is dissing his dad with this effort!

Anora now streaming on HULU. Wasn’t sure of it in the beginning of the film, but held my interest. A Cinderella story gone bad.

Nothing new of course. It's me posting after all. Came across this Stern/Rob Lowe interview and liked it (and I don't like Stern). The Diane Lane/Matt Dillon comments are priceless.

I hear Neeson, who hasn’t dated since the death of his wife in 2009, is now dating co-star Pamela Anderson. Awesome.

Luke Skywalker as the general plus The Running Man is coming soon too.
The Monkey will be on Peacock Aug 7,
It was a hoot.
I'm also really looking forward to The Welcome to Derry series on HBO MAX
Someone has The Institute but its movie, ehhh the book was ok.
The King book I would love to see being done besides The Talisman and Black House is the Holly Gibney, in Holly.

Cynthia Erivo played her in the HBO series The Outsider. I preferred the actress (Justine Lupe) who played her in the Mr Mercedes series.

+1.
Also The Outsider does not get the credit its due. Both book and film are very good.

A cool flick could also be the short story follow up to Cujo in the collection, You Like It Darker.
Story titled Rattlesnakes.

That was good but then you'd almost have to do a Duma Key back story besides the Cujo one. I liked the Novella but that wasn't one of my favorite stories. I mean good read but it doesn't need to be made into a book.
Let me go off on a mini side bar here. I just finished re-reading an old Dan Simmons book called Sumer Of Night. One of the best coming of age horror stories I've read, outside of King, in a very long time. Its fantastic.

I remember loving The Talisman as a kid! I remember being disappointed with Black House but my expectations may have been too high. Have you read Eyes of the Dragon? I always thought it would make a great movie and I'm surprised it hasn't.
The Dark Tower is in development by Mike Flanagan. He's done a great job with Kings work in the past. That series got me into reading so I'm happy to see it getting a second chance after the atrocious film.

One for movies and one for shows but probably a good idea to consolidate if @Tom McAndrew is up for it…

I realize things get a little muddled these days in terms of how movies are delivered. But I still think there is value in having separate threads for:

- movies
- series/shows on TV/streaming apps
- movie trailers

That's what we currently have. I know some folks don't always find the correct thread for the any of the above subjects, but it's not a big nuisance for me to move such posts to the correct thread.

Edit: After posting the above, I went and searched. It appears I've been the laziest about moving posts about movies into the Movie thread. A lot of times, it's folks starting a thread asking for thoughts on a movie that recently came out. I'll try to work on being better about moving them into the Movie thread going forward.

I thought Black House was pretty good. Very dark. Not as dark as Revival, that IMO is the darkest book King has ever written.
Eyes of the Dragon is good and has a Flagg appearance in it.
Flanagan has done really well. I thought Dr. Sleep was very underrated.
The Dark Tower had sooo many things wrong with it and the least of them was Idris Elba.
