Penn State offseason stock, players in NFL and Hoops: BWI Live
Penn State football had an offseason of change in December. How did they do? The BWI Live crew answers that question and more at noon.
Here is where I stand with Penn State football. I believe my favorite NFL team, the NY Jets, currently have a brighter future than the Penn State football program.
good conversation by Nate, Dave and TFrank. A couple say "stock down". This is based on a lot of losses in terms of key players and coaches. TFrank was the most optimistic as he was projecting forward. This does hit a point talked about on other posts, and that if you are recruiting top talent then you will become a perpetual young team. your best guys to NFL in 3, your guys who are not seeing the field after a couple years transfer and you need first and second year players to be contributing at a high level. even at OL you are going to need some of your top talent in the Fr/So classes to be big contributors. you can't expect to have your starters dominated by the older 4th and 5th year players. Nate - good comment that this means you identify the misses early and cut them loose. that has not been Penn State football historically.![]()

Nates point there in the end of your recap is one that doesn't sit easy with me. I guess if we're going full NFL in college, that's fine but there will be people sold on the idea of "family" and then be treated very differently. Messaging there is important because that crosses a line.good conversation by Nate, Dave and TFrank. A couple say "stock down". This is based on a lot of losses in terms of key players and coaches. You must be very sold on Zack Wilson. Here is where I stand with Penn State football. I believe my favorite NFL team, the NY Jets, currently have a brighter future than the Penn State football program.
My entire outlook for PSU football changed with the Illinois 9OT game that I sat through. Inexcusable losses after a tough loss are now the norm for this coaching staff. Until that changes I will not have a favorable opinion of Penn State football. Zack Wilson did not throw an interception after returning from his knee injury. the Jets have two first round and two second round picks in this draft. Why? Not ballbusting. Serious question. We all know where the jets WERE even 2 years ago. What happened in those 2 years that causes you to think this way now? They were 2-14, then 4-13 the last 2 seasons and this year was saleh’s first year. Is it because of Wilson? Or is this not so much about your optimism of the Jets but more of your pessimism of Penn state?
Again, legitimately curious here.
