Wow, that surprised me. Maybe MLB coaches can figure out how to make him effective

1. Devin gets the hell out of Starkville.
2. Cohen gets Devin the hell out of Starkville.
3. His (former) teammates get Devin the hell out of Starkville.
4. The fans get Devin the hell out of Starkville.

I never understood the hype about him. His FR season, people kept talking about how good he was and all I saw was a tall skinny guy who sucked.

hype came solely from his summer league appearances, apparently. He would pitch lights out every summer. Hell he was named top prospect in one league, I believe. He does have a pretty nasty slider and a plus fastball. It's just a matter of him getting it together.

that MLB doesn't do psychological profiles or tests of the people they draft. That kid has more squirrels in his head...than...17, I can't even think of anything with more squirrels in its head, that's how many he has.

Before some math wizard drops the stats, I understand how it would be impossible with the number of rounds in baseball draft to do that and the $$ involved.

who played at Podunk HS (Calhoun City) said they used to beat his arse every time they played in HS. Guess he's got the physical tools but not the mental.

Bianco has had pitchers drafted that weren't great in college like Goforth in the 7th today. Bianco is a good pitching coach.

Ryan Carroll was drafted multiple times despite never pitching 20 innings. I think Mac is a good pitching coach too.

We don't know the definite answer on Jones, but just b/c he went in the 9th doesn't automatically mean our staff did a bad job.

His ERA in the Cape Cod League was in the 4's- for those of you who are 90%ers, keep in mind that this is a wood bat league that we're talking about here.

He is simply a guy that can throw really hard and has a good slider. He was that way in high school. But, he pitched at a small school that was not very good. He could blow away people in 2A high school baseball, but once he got past that- he never could put it all together mentally.

If Devin Jones had, say Caleb Reed's head on his shoulders, he would be All-SEC at worst.
