Your point would be better if they weren't being beaten right now, but I don't disagree that it can be effective. A box and one is doable occasionally because it's not that far off from basic zone principles. You take that one extra guy out of the zone, and it's more difficult. To run a triangle and two effectively would require a good bit of practice time. There is a reason why it's called a junk defense.
