It'll get interesting, but hopefully having Boyd will pull through for us on this one.

Eulls, Cox, Boyd, and Turd Ferguson. Then after White and Wright graduate, we could have some combination of Skinner, Hughes, Bohanna, and CJ Johnson at LB. That's some serious talent in our front 7.

Christian Holmes and Brandon Hill. I think they are going to be linebackers for us as well.

Or Curtis Virges at DT.

Thats gonna be a fun rotation to watch. If Diaz comes in as advertised, I think he's gonna have the pieces necessary to have one hell of a defense.

The weekend he committed to us, he went to an LSU game. And his coach said that his commitment is as soft as they come. But he seemed to reaffirm his commitment to us after 41-27.

told Paul on BDJ last night that he is 100% a bulldog....Paul said in past conversations he usually says he's 70-75%. Definitely not a bad thing but that'll likely change come late January of next year.

Hudspeth is going to have to work Coach Hall big time to try land Tobias. Doubt it happens, though. Luckily Mississippi has three, four legit receivers this year. Maybe we'll land two of them.

You're exactly right DSAUM.......as long as Coach BH is at Madison Central, any player that comes through that school with the potential to go directly to D1 will be going to Ole Miss. The only exceptions will be kids with parents who are big-time alumni at other universities and very heavilyinvolved in the recruiting process.

But Singleton would fit better in Dan's offense than Nutt's. I could see Tobias being a Percy Harvin type- slot WR position guy where he lines up as a WR and then at times goes in motion and gets a hand off as a RB. I'm sure he will run the wildcat at Ole Miss, and they'll sell that. I know McCluster was used as a WR/RB, but I don't think that's something that Nutt would typically like to do- hence not putting McCluster at RB until about midseason. On the other hand, the slot WR's/slot backs, whatever we want to call them, are a vital part of MSU's spread offense. See Chad Bumphis.

The other thing that is in State's favor is Martin and Bennett will be gone off to college while Singleton is in HS. Since I don't stalk these guys, I don't know how much they hang out or anything like that, but them being in Oxford might help us because Singleton won't be around those guys as much during the season. Kind of like when Spencer and co. went to Ole Miss and then Parys Haralson went to UT the next year.

Finally, the last thing that State has in their favor is time. We have a whole year until signing day, and I'm sure that we will try to recruit him hard.

It would be helpful if Tyler Russell has a good year and for whoever Ole Miss's QB is to have a bad year as well, but there's no guarantee on either of those happening.

Now, all of that said, before the entire NAFOOM community comes over here and talks about the Cotton Bowl, I still think that Ole Miss gets Tobias Singleton. But I don't think State is going to go down without putting up somewhat of a fight, even though I'd say that there's about a 90% chance that he goes to Ole Miss.

but i'm not going to be holding my breath.

it looks like chief brown is going to be the hybrid-type player you're talking about. this could be (and needs to be) a big year for our recruiting, especially in-state.

1. Though I see your point, I'm sure they'll still talk. Whenever Buckles came back to Madison, he always spoke highly of Ole Miss, etc. It didn't hurt when recruiting Spencer and Espy (I'm leaving out Bobo). Plus, The Kang's article on BDJ said it only helps a coach recruiting the school. He gave the example of high and middle schoolers at Tupelo watching Chad Bumphis, wanting to follow in his footsteps.

2. Agreed. And it wouldn't surprise me to see someone (Melvin, I guess) else working with Hud when recruiting MC. From what I've heard, Hud lackadaisically recruited MC while Nix was a glad-handing, baby-kissing machine. We need all the time we can get.

3. I really think Russell's development is the biggest thing. If we can show him (and other notable receivers) that for the first time in nearly a decade we have a legit option at QB, their interest will raise. Doesn't hurt he'd be a RS freshman and they could develop with him.

offense. He's just one of those players that you have to get the ball in any way because of his big-play ability.

I would think Martin and Bennett would be more of a selling point for Singleton and Ole Miss than a negative (of them not being around). The coaches will get to sell that he can come play with his former teammates, blah blah blah.

For what its worth, I think Moncrief and Pinkston are pretty good WRs too, and I think Brassell may end up at CB or S in college. Regardless, neither of us should have to go very far to get a really, really good WR this year.

Just my worthless two cents.
