I predict that a lot of the people hating on the iPhone and saying how much better the Droid is will change their opinion of the iPhone.<div>
</div><div>Some won't like it. And that's just that. But some thought the Droid was better simply because they didn't have access to the iPhone.</div><div>
</div><div>We'll see.</div>

Too bad it's not 4g capable. C Spire is supposed to have 4g out sometime in this quarter (4Q2011). It's still nice that C Spire might be trying to get better phones. I know my girlfriend will be excited, she was waiting for her contract to end so she could move on to another company for the IPhone. I'd rather have Android, but mostly because I would rather have Amazon MP3 integration than Itunes. Itunes sucks pretty bad.

I'm a heavy heavy data user on my iPhone 4, and ATT's 3G speeds are fine. Plus 4G would eat through your battery in about 3 hours, and until Apple can get the battery life to be able to withstand a heavy 4G usage for a long duration of time, they won't put the chipset in there.

Either way, the HSPA+ capable 4S still can reach downstream speeds up to 14.6Mbps, which is still more than enough.

So if you aren't a heavy data user and you like getting your email in 0.2 seconds instead of 0.9 seconds...then you're good, right? LOL

other than its cell tower infrastructure in MS? It seems to be about the only way to get decent reception during an MSU football game which is a pretty big plus, but I was wondering if there are any other advantages. If you want to be able to stream video, their price seems to be pretty comparable in price to the big boys. If you aren't worried about streaming, though, the $50 unlimited plan is pretty impressive.

I've been bitching about the new iPhone's lack of features for 3 months now, but I admit that I'm probably going to end up getting one. 4G capability is nearly worthless right now unless you live in one of about 15 major cities. I think we're probably still a year to a year or two away from seeing it rolled out in semi-remote areas. Hell, you still can't get 3G in many areas of the Southeast. Plus, the Android app store has improved but it still just can't touch Apple's.

The plan prices are quite competitive, if not better than what you would get from any of the national carriers.

C Spire puts a premium on customer service. I know that's a big beef a lot of people have with AT&T.

General signal reception over MS, Alabama, and Tennessee (Memphis) would be another plus if you spend most of your time in the area.

On the 'regional pride' side, it's a Mississippi owned company that's headquartered in the Jackson Metro area. By supporting C Spire you are supporting people who live and work in your community (if you live in Mississippi).

None of these might convince you but to me they are decent reasons to consider going with C Spire.

and I was wondering whether that was the headquarters or not.

Yeah, the biggest problem for me with the pricing is that I get a 20-25% company discount on the big 3 so once I factor that in, the rates come out about the same. If I got that same discount with Cspire, it would probably be a no brainer.

How's the reception outside of the Southeast? That's really been my only big fear with them since I travel a good bit for work. Well, that and their inability to get some of the more popular phones in the past, but they seem to be making significant progress in that regard.

So the people that work for AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, etc don't live in MS and need "support"? Mmmmk. I had cell south/CSpire/Regional Pride for 8 years. I travel, a lot for my job and the service outside of the "regional" area was ****. The data blew, and my phone would never ring...I would only get voicemails. Also, my data went down at least twice a day. Their customer service is pathetic, too. I would never recommend them to anyone.

Already re-upped with AT&T when I got my 4S last week. I mean, how could they fail to get this by launch day? I would have definitely considered going to Ceasefire if they would have had the 4S at launch.

The timing was outside of C Spire's control. Trust me, they wanted to announce weeks ago to grab customers while the big boys were having their pre-sale.

My contract with Sprint is up in November and I was thinking of going to the iphone. I need coverage in Jackson, South Bovina,New Orleans, and Colorado..

Sprint has the best plans. Who has the best cell phone service?

With Cspire, you are actually roaming on the Verizon network when you are out of there regional area. I have traveled a lot with friends that have ATT and my cellularsouth blackberry would always have better coverage. I have also not had any problems when out of the country. They do not have the world traveler discounted rates that ATT has so you pay a little more per minute, but for me that is 2 weeks a year at best.</p>

I think you can return within 30 days, no questions asked, no penalty. And everyone knows that AT&T has abandoned HSPA+ buildout and is going to 4G LTE. AT&T's HSPA+ coverage areas in the south are pitiful.

I laughed last week when this was mentioned. That's a helluva coup for CSpire. The iPhone is an incredible piece of hardware.

This was on Hwy 6 near Oxford. I have no idea how it compares to other phones/networks, but it feels like it loads web pages pretty damn fast.

Did I mention any other company or their employees? I simply stated that C Spire was Mississippi owned and operated. Companies like this are what is going to take Mississippi out of the Dark Ages compared to the rest of the country and move us forward economically and technologically.

C Spire does more for local causes and local sports (to make this sports-related) than any of the national carriers.

As for your service-related problems, sorry to hear it. I've never had any of the issues you've mentioned with any of my phones, and any time I've had to go to the store my experience has been great. Your mileage may vary, I suppose, but you seem pretty bitter about the whole thing. You sure it's not just you?

I travel from California to NYC. Anytime I was out of the region, the service was ****. Every time I called or went to a store, I got the same song and dance. I finally had enough and jumped ship. I will admit that I pay a little more now, but it is well worth it. Also, its not just me. I know plenty of people, including colleagues, who had or still have the same issues. Quick example, I was in NYC for 10 days. I got 23 voicemails from clients and guess how many times my blackberry rang? Twice. Now I'm with Verizon and I never have that trouble. Their service is good within the region, go outside of the region and say hello to the stone age.

Vegas, Cali, DC, Georgia, and in all of these place i have had full service with C spire and am very pleased with the $79.99 Unlimited plan that I have with my phone. (second unlimited line for $39.99) The only places i have had call dropping issues were rural places on the interstate between Meridian and Hattiesburg. Other than that, I would say for the price you can't beat C Spire.

no one, anywhere, will get that on their phone. ****, I don't even get that here, and we've got 10GBps of bandwidth in my office. We have 8 Tier 1 bandwidth providers, and I can't get that speed on my desktop.

Here's a pretty good article LINK . Basically, 4G is meaningless

The ITU defines 4G or IMT-Advanced as technology that offers download
speeds of 100Mbps on mobile devices or 1Gbps on fixed wireless
connections. The technologies used by the four major carriers in the
U.S. today aren't as fast as that.

web surfing when out of "the region" but all it took was a phone call and they adjusted something and no more problems after that.

However, not meeting the high end spec doesn't bother me nearly as much as the way that carriers seem to be allowed to label pretty much anything 4G. Well, that and the lack of availability. The average customer has no idea about the differences in technology so it's borderline criminal the way they're allowed to advertise it right now.

Interestingly, I just went to an AT&T store on my lunch break and test drove the 4S and Galaxy S 2. Granted, the 4G coverage that AT&T has down here isn't LTE, but I saw virtually zero difference between the internet speeds of each phone even though the 4S is not 4G capable. With the Nexus Prime's underwhelming specs that were just released today, I'm leaning towards the 4S right now even with the smaller screen.

Depending on how they work their data plans, they may have become competitive again.

read very carefully the data plan fine print. free streaming ENDS OCTOBER 29th. That means they will be charging $30 a month EXTRA on top of their plans they have listed at the moment. and although it says you have unlimited web browsing, e-mail, IM's and texts data streaming is defined at Espn, netflix and FACEBOOK??? they are gonna have to be more clear their customers than that. "you mean i can browse the web all i want but when i go to facebook i am streaming?"

Just because "it's just fine" now doesn't mean it won't be in the near future. Computer systems of all kinds are constantly getting larger and faster, and if you can get something that is compatible with faster or larger tech, you should get it. 4G has been out for over a year and there are tons of phones for it. There's no excuse for apple to put out a product that can't handle 4G speeds if it believes it is a cutting edge technology company.

I'm sorry, I just don't feel like a 200 dollar slightly upgraded iPhone 4 is worth it.
