If I don't have cable, is there any way to get college football games through the net? Does ESPN have cable/satellite packages you can get? Things like ESPN Gameday used to be? And furthermore, for other events, such as British Open and baseball regionals?

Think you have to have cable to also get access to those sites but it's just a username and password so ask a friend to sign you up.

Pretty sure Justin.TV or some similar website might allow you to stream live events. Pretty sure I watched some of our CWS live online in Canada (where they don't have ESPN 2).

I would look into DirecTV’s “Refer A Friend” promotion. Once you sign up you can start referring your various personalities and probably wind up making money on the whole venture.

ESPN3.com depends on your ISP. I know Att Uverse allows you to view ESPN3 content, but the issue you will have is blackouts (which can sometimes be bypassed) and not everything shown on the main ESPN channels is streamed on there. There are unsavory ways of watching most games though.

There are things called Direct TV, Dish Network and Free to Air Satellite.

Those are not cable.

I don't want to pay for satellite either. I'm looking for a pay-per-view sort of deal, where I can get all the games from a Saturday or similar.

There is no way to get live ESPN programming that is showing on their networks unless you have a valid cable subscription.

You might get some stuff that is on ESPN3 that isn't showing anywhere else but if you wanted to watch Alabama vs State at 7 PM and it's the ESPN primetime game - you have to have a valid TV subscription to view that game online.

Hopefully not far from now you will only be charged for the channels you want. Some of the cable providers are considering it to compete with the current movement to Netflix and watching shows online. Right now I can only dream of the day I pay $20 a month for all the networks I care to watch.

Thanks. I figured that was the difference between WatchESPN and ESPN3. Seemed too good to be true to be able to see all ESPN programming for basically your internet fee.

ESPN3 still shows some live events that are airing on ESPN, ESPN2, and ABC. The entire British Open was available and I think half of the CWS games. It is quirky though, in that you have to specifically choose the ESPN3 broadcast. If you click the TV broadcast you will be asked for your tv provider. You cannot watch via the ESPN/ESPN2 links unless you have a participating TV provider. You must navigate via the ESPN3 links even though it's the exact same feed. You can also sort it to only show the ESPN3 events to eliminate some of the confusion.
