Cal's trying to walk back the swagger he threw out about the team between the Bahamas and the Duke game. He of all people should know about setting expectations with fans. I have to believe he had some concerns going into the Duke game but like the fans he was stunned at the end result. Now he's working the PR to keep fans from jumping off the cliff

We have all the pieces to be a great team by the end of the season. It happens every year and we know it just takes time to add all these guys, and have them play together and for one another. Defense is what takes a little time with freshman because, haha, they never had to play defense. This team has the athletes to become a championship team and by February and March, you will not want to see our name on your side of the bracket. I myself love to watch how Cal develops these kids every year in such a short time. Guys it is hard to learn all this stuff and prefect it. I wouldn’t trade my coach or either one of my players, and I’m 100% tickled to death that they chose to come to UK. Just don’t give up and support them. They will make you proud this year. I’m proud of them now just like a lot of you are. Now , let’s let our HALL OF FAMER work his magic, like he always does. Thanks guys.

He doesnt have the luxury of living JUST IN THE PRESENT..

Being the Coach of Kentucky you HAVE TO live in the Past, Present, and Future to earn your paycheck..

He left the players and assistants on a positive note.. Now he has to multitask and trust his assistants to keep the needle moving forward while he works.

I do agree with the needing a better recruiter thoughd.. BUT he does need to get to this kids regardless and being gone days 2 and 3 of a 5 day break between games shouldnt hurt that bad.
