Cal- shooters become non-shooters

Someone brought this up on Fb the other day. I have to say I agree. Wth is he doing to players that they shoot well before and after, but not during their time on his teams?

Anyone here have any insight into practices and why these young men lose their ability to shoot under Cal?

I’m guessing it’s got to do with the speed of the game.

Micromanagement and screaming. That is why they can't shoot.

Almost every shooter out of HS is a solid shooter in college under Cal
- Monk, Booker, Knight, Lamb, Murray, Herro (tailed off at end), etc... were touted as really good to great shooters and they lived up to it.
- Bledsoe, Diallo, MKG, Hagans, Clarke, Boston, Fox, were not billed as great shooters and these guys basically lived up to their shooting acumen.

THere are always guys in the middle like Ullis, Harrison Twins, Keldon, Darius Miller became a good shooter, Derek Willis morphed into a really good shooter...and guys who were not as good as advertised like Mulder and Darnell Dodson,

And guys who simply never got enough time at UK to prove one way or the other like Quade Green, Juzang, Jermayl Baker, etc...

In the end, Cal recruited a ton of SG/SF that were not good shooters and his lack of usage of role players in his system is a big reason why UK doesn't shoot from 3 like past teams do.
