Caleb Reed burned for the series?

prior to season's beginning a long article about the team included statements that the season Caleb would be used more as a true closer than one who pitches tons of innings late in games. The article stressed our pitching depth and the fact that Caleb would not have to worry about tiring. Is our pitching not as good as we thought or has there been a change in strategy? Our backs are to the wall it looks like.

From injured pitchers to starters that have lost some of their pitches to injury, we are not quite as strong as we should be or planned on being.

We still have an OK staff but many, at least i thought that Routt was going to be much better this year and he is throwing BP by not having the ability or the control to throw all of his pitches.

I am ok going with Caleb to make sure we start off a Friday night with a win. I also don't believe he is burned for the weekend. Mark my words, we are in a close game Sat or Sun in the 8th or 9th and you will see him again.

hurt as well as Routt and Pollorena stuggling. Pollorena has pitched pretty well his last two times out though- so hopefully he's back.

He had an ERA of 4.50 with on only 6 innings pitched about a week ago. You don't just throw a pitcher who had a good season for you last year to the curb based on just 6 innings of work.

There was a reason he wasn't pitching over a long stretch of time. If we had put him in a game, it would've hurt us really bad- and probably Pollorena too.

It's not a coincidence that his ERA has gone down from 4.50 to 2. something in one week.

But it's progress for someone that before that had allowed runs in pretty much all of his appearances before that.

And I wouldn't be shocked to see Reed if needed. Id like to see Holder get the nod in late situations where Reed is unavailable. And I agree, you have to use Reed if you need him to get the Friday win.

After Florida lit him up in the super last year, he's not been the same. He's just got to get some confidence back, he'll be fine.

Back to the point, injuries have played a significant role in our pitching, or lack thereof. Routt just hasn't been "on" this year, for whatever reason. We need him to find himself and get his mojo back.
