So they aren't allowed to move to a different house in Norman? I have high hopes for him staying, was at the OU BBall game against Florida, was at today's announcement and has been posting about the Alamo Bowl. I guess they all could be smoke screens................time will tell, but the more time that goes buy, the better I feel about him staying.

He working on it.

Oklahoma's Brent Venables says he has spoken to quarterback Caleb Williams since being named head coach for the Sooners. https://uw-media.oklahoman.com/embed/video/6407467001?placement=snow-embed

If Caleb bolts now that Venables is head coach, it's Caleb's loss, not OU's.

Hey 67, evidently someone took that link down as I get an error "saying this may have been removed".

Why is Joe Brady a better option for OC than Jeff Lebby ?
Can't speak for anyone but I am seeing a lot of people saying on Social Media that the Briles Mess at Baylor is why they don't want him. That he among others there turned a blind eye to what was happening.
Don't shoot the messenger here just what I am seeing.

Yes I heard rumblings of same, but heard Brady was not “into” recruiting. So there is that dilemma.

Art Briles has been completely exonerated and cleared of all NCAA violations alleged against him.

Good kid, but he's a human turnover machine.
A good friend of mine is a Nebraska fan and didn't mind Adrian transferring at all. Sent me a screen shot from The DailyER that said, "Adrian Martinez throws his name in transfer portal, is intercepted and returned for a touchdown" #GBR haha!

Well......its true isn't it? I could be wrong
According to his lawyer and the NCAA, if you consider those authoritative sources. The fact remains Briles is as toxic as it gets. So much so, that there have been rumblings against Lebby due to his tenure at Baylor during some of the incidents that occurred. If an assistant is still feeling the heat, I cannot imagine anyone wanting the head man here.

If he ends up anywhere other than USC, I’ll be surprised. I guarantee, they’ll have him on the cover of EA Sports NCAA 2022 with a 99 ranking on the game, and money up front and shares of sales. Look at how schools can buy players now. Recruiting has gone to a whole other level.

Oh I agree not many want Briles due to those allegations regardless if they were true or not. Too bad cause the guy really could coach

Most of the rumblings I am seeing online about Lebby are coming from Puke fans, Texas fans and Liberals. Some OU fans as well but he was cleared to Coach at 2 Schools after that correct? I am sure Joe C has vetted him as well.

This issue with Briles is not at all a "liberal" one.
Women were raped and assaulted and while this isn't an NCAA violation, it is a felony....which makes it worse. Briles' lack of response was similar to Paterno's in the Sandusky rape of a 10 year boy. And it was appalling to see so many Penn State fans defend Paterno.....but when it comes to coaches and players, many fans will defend/support their sacred cow coaches and players blindly.
That Briles was exonerated does not mean he was a non-participant in this scandal. He was....by not reacting.
I do not think that Venables wants or needs the fallout that is sure to come (in hiring Lebby) from the media and opposing recruiters.

Was Lebby ever implicated in the Baylor deal? Or is all this just because of his family relationship with Briles? Not arguing for him but wondering why he would be so toxic if brought on board.

Personally, beyond the Briles' scandal, which Lebby had no part in, I like what his coaching brings to OU.
But we live in a world of glass jaw outrage and intolerance and I don't see Lebby getting 100% approval by the media. Lebby's "crime" was supporting his father-in-law, Coach Briles.
My reservation is not about how I feel, but how Lebby's addition could be viewed.....which in turn, concerns me.

Got ya, CT. Too bad it’s like that today. I guess Brent will have to deal with it if it becomes an issue for recruiting. Bob Stoops told him to never let what others would say in making a decision. If you think it’s right, go for it. We’ll see.

I strongly believe that Venables has this hire researched and knows Lebby as good as anyone. Somehow, I think Venables will give everyone a good justification to hire Lebby for reasons beyond just his coaching ability.

I would imagine that the OU legal team/compliance department started vetting Lebby before Brent was hired since the two names were attached from the beginning.

This is all I found, which is a 2016 article updated in 2020 which the accuses him of a cover up but I'm not sure if charges were ever filed. It's hard to form an opinion based on accusations alone.

Look what Lebby did with Corral. Williams is 10x the QB Corral is/was. Corral should be in NY as a Heisman candidate.
