Our young athletes need us to step up and make phone calls.

I have it on good authority that the IHSA needs parents to speak up. If you have a high school athlete, it’s time to put the pressure on the IDPH to get Stage 2 Return to Play guidelines approved. Call the Office of the Director at IDPH and start asking questions. PLEASE be respectful! 217-557-2556

A couple on Clay County has filed a lawsuit against IDPH and ISBE. Nothing to do with sports (about reopening schools with the restrictions) but we could see a trend soon.

The IHSA lady literally said they needed more people to put pressure on IDPH and is surprised that many have not.

I've been seeing some Twitter pressure but not that much. They probably don't even check tweets. Hope people make some noise soon.

Said it since this broke out in March....there will be lawsuits, and lots of them....it's the American way.

Quick question since I have not been involved in high school sports in a few decades, what are the players missing out on right now? Back in my day you showed up in August for 2 days for a month and then started games. Also the guidelines for phase 4 have allowed all sports to resume games so how is the IDPH holding back IHSA?

In a nutshell, they have not allowed them to advance to the next phase with the rest of the state.

They are missing out on:
7 on 7 time/exposure
Some camp time
Ability to host youth camps (all sports) that help pay asst coaches in some places and also help further the youth support
Summer baseball/softball workouts and games
Basketball workouts and games
And probably much more
Meanwhile all the athletes in many of the sports outside of football are actually playing games with equipment in other states.

So it's actually alot

Football is really the only sport I can think of that you can't compete as the sport is intended at a competitive level anywhere but during the actual season. Every other sport (except maybe badminton) can be played through a club or youth organization (at the High School level).

Thanks. Is iDPH holding up IHSA because of the school connection? Youth football has been going on since the end of May

Likely to do with that. Otherwise it wouldn't make sense at all. 12 year olds were able to do youth football and baseball end of May, but the 15 year old brother couldn't with HS (for example). That's the situation they've been in.
