I know there will always be an element of cheating in college athletics (or anything in life). We'll never be able to change it either - I'm okay with that. But if this goes on to making college football a little more wholesome, I'm okay with any interim smearing we get in the process. I don't want to be a supporter of an amateur sport where players are handled and sold like cattle. There's a league for that already and it's called the NFL.

Bring on the "but college football is a billion dollar industry!" replies. You know what? I don't care. 17 that and 17 you too. I can't help it if people enjoy watching amateur athletes play football and there are folks that make money in the process by broadcasting it on your HDTV. That doesn't excuse a behind the scenes market for the best players available. They can hold off 2 or 3 years before getting paid. Until then, they can enjoy their free educations.

that their monthly stipend should be more (& admittedly, I have no idea what it currently is). The "athlete" portion of their day is just about a job, as far as time demands go, & they essentially can not have a summer job.

When you count scholarships.

Maybe a bonus system, for AA awards, etc, since AAA players make around 50K?

But hell, there's an easy solution to this, if the NCAA and/or NFL really cared: NFL bans. They already do it for stupid behaviour (Pacman, etc.), why not for college payments too? Put that system in place, and there's no way Cam risks his NFL payday for a measly 200K.
