Yes i do. But im not familiar with the ipad, and didnt know if i could move files between my pc and ipad. I understand they are different animals and not very compatible. Thus i thought i would ask the geek squad while i was here.
You could do that for 200 dollars, but i myself do it through a laptop as already suggested.
the advantages of the laptop is that uses minimal power, quieter and maybe more easily hidden. you can also find good refurbished laptops for 200 dollars
googling inexpensive HTPC builds comes up with any info you need, i would use something like that as a starting point to thinking about where you want to go with it.

basically you don't need much, also with black friday and holiday shopping season coming you can usually find good deals. all you need is some cpu, ram, mobo (probably ITX the smallest form factor and then a cheap ITX case (match case size to mobo size adn match cpu socket to mobo socket and ram to mobo compatibility) usually have power supply included and some sort of storage)

This thing is coming out or is already available, not sure which. I'll probably pick one up for kicks and see what it does.

I don't charge him. I gave him my login for free, then he voluntarily decided on his own to pay for half of it. Some folks on here are too stupid to understand what "voluntarily" means though.
Yes, a Raspberry Pi is perfectly suited for such a usage. I actually know one person that has turned a Raspberry Pi into one. I hate it, mainly because he has Linux running on it though.
