I know it has been discussed in another thread but what exactly was going on with the Marine during the Mississippi/Texas game? I saw the video but I wasn't exactly sure why he was upset. Maybe the fact that we are under attack and he shouldn't be showing off? Any way I have a huge respect for all service men and women but he made a fool of HIMSELF.

texas player was gesturing for the crowd to "hush"... the GSGT Marine (obviously a UM fan) took exception, lost his bearing/discipline and acted a jackass.

This^^^

And if you notice that the Texas guy did not get into the Marines face. The Marine step to his right and got into the Texas players face. I have no idea what he was thinking.

Dang, would hate to have seen the Marine's reaction had the Texas player flipped off the crowd or something.

that GIF is going to end as famous as when that aggie cadet (or whatever the hell they're called) pulled his sword out on that SMU cheerleader.

You would think a Marine Gunny would have dicipline in his blues. He is not at Paris Island and he is not a drill instructor. Deffenitly out of character.

However, I deeply thank him for his service.

That's GySgt. Roberts. He's an instructor. He just likes acting like a tool.

He completely lost his military bearing in a very public arena. That pretty much sums it up. If you'll notice, the Marine put himself into the situation.

I saw it live on the netcast and didn't know what he was doing it for. And why was he even on the field? Was he part of the color guard or something?

Had the Marine been a Bulldog and the player a Bear, y'all would literally soak your entire pants with *** talking about what a badass he is.

Not really. Would it have been acceptable for the Highway Patrolman in the background to jump in the players face and start acting a fool? No. The Marine was in uniform and should not have lost military bearing.

I don't give a damn who's playing who, a gunny in blues with 12+ years in doesn't need to embarrass the Corp acting like that. A buck private, yes one could expect that behavior. Maybe

Gay. The troopers are there working. They are on the job. The marine thought the guy was getting up in his face or was about to jump taunt the Ole Miss fans or whatever.

I'm an Infantry Officer and that crap is embarassing

You put on your uniform, you become a "fan" of America and what it stands for. Be an idiot on your own time when not representing those who died for something greater than a final score in a football game.

I can't stop watching. So many questions come to mind.

What is he yelling? Is it "Nooooooooooooooooooooo STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!"? What was going through the Texas players mind? Does he have a squirrel under his hat that's causing it to wiggle so much?

Soldiers and Marines are defined by their discipline

Losing your composure like that is ridiculous. Doing it on TV, even more so. And even if the Marine was not acting out of any football loyalties, was he afraid he was about to be tackled? I expect more from senior NCOs.

I've never been in the Marines, but he acts like every Marine in every movie I've ever seen.

I respect their service but I'm fairly gayed by these notions that Marines must be "composed" or "disciplined" insofar as it regards standing at a football game. This aint war.

Well, for starters, he looks like a ******* idiot

What's the point of bowing up on a guy who's just celebrating a touchdown? The Texas player hadn't even done anything yet and this dickwad in a uniform decides to go full retard and try to act like a hard ***. The player didn't confront him; he stepped in front of the player and let out some sort of primal, head-wiggling yell.

If it aint war, leave your uniform at home. If you wear your uniform, you represent something greater than yourself. Like it or not, thats the price you pay when you serve.

You do realize the Marine had to side step to get in the Texas players face and heaven forbid that a player taunt (LANDSHARK!!!!!!!) the opposing team. Face it, when I was in my Blues I was supposed to adhere to certain behavioral guidelines. When the Marine puts on his uniform he is representing the service, not the university. He was wrong. period.

"... because he's a UM fan." Finished that for you.

Had this been a State fan you'd be telling your grandchildren about this moment.

When does being angry constitute poor behavior?

Y'all ring cowbells when the other team is on offense. Let's not start calling others idiots.

Yes, well the thing is, we have all these people on here saying that's un-marine-ly of him. In my opinion, as much as I appreciate their services, marines are ********. How is this guy different, or "lost his military bearing?"

His mannerisms and demeanor are 100 percent marine gunny sergent. So why are the marines here so upset and claiming he's not acting like a marine?

He's in his bluuuuuuuuues.

I'm a Marine and that's pretty 17ing funny. If that had happened at State then this board would idolize this Marine. And I disagree that he lost his bearing, he knew exactly what he was doing and is in full control. He was putting on a show and represented the colors appropriately.

If you don't agree then stand tall before the man.

Seems you've already answered your dumbass question when you said you were never in the Marines. That's clearly why you don't understand the criticism here among other veterans, which you are not. Read the title of the thread then you may remove yourself from the conversation. That ******* enough for you?
