You definitely have a point. But for me, the posters that get on my nerves are the ones when we are winning, Duke is the best team in the country. These last 2 games, all of a sudden they are not that team anymore. When they lose, Duke is the **** posters turn into Duke ain't ****( paraphrasing) poster. The comments are bipolar. Instead of talking about it, maybe I'll start copying and pasting exactly what I'm talking about.

When people realize no matter that it's Duke, they can and will lose when we think they should win, will have bad games, a certain player can struggle, then get on here and trash the team. Its one thing to say we look like crap tonight, but another to start talking about how they are not that good in general. This has happened early in some games.

Agreed. It’s the bipolar part that’s killing me. I’m guilty of it too, but even a sense of negative realism is now getting called out sometimes.

Naw, it's not you, but they are not hard to see when you have been in an environment where you are forced to be consistent or somebody could get hurt.

I think to a sense, we all hate our boys losing, but just because we are fans, do that give us the right to trash the team or players and then laugh at other teams doing it? Nothing wrong with being negative when it applies, some just take it overboard. This is just my opinion, we all have them, and in our minds, we are always right lol. We a posters just show different levels of emotions and reactions. Definitely nothing wrong with that at all.

On point RS. We know exactly which posters you’re referring to. As fourteen stated earlier. Can this team right now win the ship? No, but we can become the team that wins the ship. No doubt in my mind.

Yup. The line between winning and losing against really good teams is not huge. We make one or two more plays down the stretch last night and all of a sudden we are ‘the grittiest team who doesn’t quit and always finds a way to win.’ Instead, we ‘have had issues all year and could very easily lose in the first round.’ It’s frankly nonsense, we are the same team we were a week ago (without Wendell at the moment) who people were writing articles about going undefeated in the ACC. On the flip side, if we had pulled it out last night it wouldn’t mean that we still didn't have issues with our ball screen defense and rim protection. WILL we win the title this year? It’s a much safer bet to say we won’t as the best team in the country (last year’s team says hi) almost never does. But is there another team that has fewer weaknesses and a higher ceiling than us this year? Not that I’ve seen.

I don't think this team at the moment can win it either, key word being at the moment. But I watch more teams than just Duke play for my love of sports, and that applies to about 80% of college basketball teams this year. We don't truly know what we have until everybody is available. I do love the fight in this team, which has never left regardless of the healthy bodies. That's a great starting point.

Something else we must remember:

Just like we took our 2019 frustrating Elite 8 loss out on MSU this year, Louisville did the same to us. You know they were motivated from the get go and it certainly reminded me of what we did to Michigan State.

This may sound crazy, but it reminds me of something lol. When I go back and read the game day threads, the comments from a few have something in common with gamblers.

If Duke is winning, the comments are great as expected. But if they are playing bad, about to lose, or have lost, those comments are a complete 180 degrees from their prior winning comments. Makes me wonder if there is money on the line. The only thing I can come up with based on some of the things I have read. Forgot today is Sunday. Time to think positive and get some prayers in my life for today.

Good game Q. Y’all have a hell of a squad.

Living in ky, there is a night a day difference with my interaction between U of L fans and uk fans. Go to rr and read their game day thread, yep, they have a game day thread for a game in which neither team is in their conference, and then comments like this one. Or just a simple as running into members of each fan base in a store or restaurant. Night and day I tell ya!!

I understand everyone's frustration during the game. It just bugs the hell out of me when people start trashing our players and coaches. Everybody seems to only think about winning the National Championship and always questions whether each Duke team can or can not. We've won 5 ships in 30 years, a lot of things have to fall in place, luck being one of them. The chances of any team winning it all is not good, but I always like our chances. I'll just have to agree with Coach K and just enjoy the journey with each team.

Also, like many have said, we have taken plenty of bad L’s in Jan, early Feb and still went on to make a deep run in the tournament.

2010: Lost to Georgetown, and ended up winning the National Championship. Also won the ACC tournament that year.

2013: Literally got run out of the gym against Miami, and still made the elite eight, with a chance to go to the final four, where we lost to Louisville, who ended up winning the whole thing.

2015: Lost to NC state, Miami, and Norte Dam in Jan, went into overtime with Va. Tech who was one of the worst ACC teams that year, and ended up sweeping unc and winning the national championship. We ended up losing to ND in the ACC tournament,

2016: it was at a point in the middle of this season, where some experts I remember reading started wondering if Duke was going to even make the NCAA tournament, but Duke when on to have that epic game against unc and Virginia, and we ended up making the sweet sixteen(that was a success for that team)

2017: injuries killed us that season and it looked like we were fading away especially after losing to a 3-13 NC State. I know we didn’t have the NCAA tournament success that year, but we ended up improving enough to where we won the ACC tournament and were even in the conversation for a 1 or 2 seed. Ended up getting a two seed

2018: Lost to Boston College, a really really bad St. John’s team and still made the elite eight where we were a Grayson Allen roll that literally rolled all over the rim but didn’t go in shot away from being in the final four.

2019: we all know how about that season. Shoe gate happened and even when Zion came back we didn’t look like that same team before Zion got injured. Still.. ended up getting to the elite eight where we were a missed FT away from being in the final four.

2020? Not sure yet how this season pans out, but going back through the decade, we have this trend more often than not where we slump in Jan, early Feb, and still ended the season on a positive note.

A whole lot more has to happen than losing to a good in conference rival that had a chip on their shoulder from last year to make me think this isn’t a final four caliber team.

I am with ya. The Louisville loss is completely understandable and the team needed to see a veteran team come out and punch them in the face. The Clemson loss still stings to me because everyone was saying Clemson was one of the worst teams they had seen when they were down to UNC lol. We know they eventually won, but they still don't seem to be a good team.

Forward march!

We’ve somewhat turned into politics though lol, drawing a line that you’re on one side of, apparently. If we critique anyone or say that we won’t win, you get thrown in the bucket with people like VA and KoachQ who say everyone sucks all of the time. Then on the other side we have guys who say “we’re going to win” even if we’re down 50 and playing with 3 guys on the court, and if you disagree, you’re wrong and a negative Nancy.

I’m starting to understand why some just lurk and read - it’s tempting to go back to that.

This team will be fine. Will they win the title? If they stay the same as today, no. Fortunately it’s January and Moore will be back. Matthew does need to turn the corner though. There’s more in that kid we haven’t seen.

Okay, rant over!
On the money......signed by a lurker,

I’m a little bit encouraged by the fact that most of our problems the last two games seem to be mental. We have good personnel, we’re just not doing the right things. We can correct these issues.

UNC doesn’t have that luxury. No sports psychologist or coach in the world can make Platek an ACC caliber guard.

Nope, but Gary-7 is doing his damnedest to convince the faithful.

Duke was knocked back and never really played their game, YET had a chance to win. Great job and a learning experience for them. I cant wait for Wendell to get back. A lineup of Tre, JGold, Cash, Wendell, and Vernon is a lockdown and score team.

Yep and our other Duke board RR is having a fit because they got dropped 5 spots and Duke got dropped 5 spots lol. Duke stays in their heads and their board.

But they didn’t say **** when Duke moved down the week before after winning both games.

Market correcting itself , I say!
