Did you really expect us to win tonight?

If so, I wish I was still that innocent and naive.

Auburn's talent on offense got coached up this year. Auburn's defense is what it usually is....damn decent.

Croom talent had no chance tonight.

****, be realistic.

if the defense wasn't so passive. If we had a decent gameplan on defense, we would have had a much better chance at winning, and on top of that, we didn't make any adjustments.

I'm much more pissed at the defense than the fact that we lost.

I have been saying Auburn was gonna be better than people thought.

Malzahn is a difference maker.

They will be better than expected. I think they showed that tonight.

He is a brilliant play caller. Auburn is going to over-achieve this year. That being said, it still doesn't excuse our front 7's ****** performance tonight. The D-line was non-existent, and the linebackers got suckered in every time they went play action or ran a misdirection. Their pursuit angles were horrendous.

on our defense than they did last season. Torbush just said the other day that he thought our linebackers were gonna be really good. Auburn backs just blew right by our defense all night. Zack Smith doesn't even desreve a scholarship & we have him as our starting free safety.

Hoping, but resigned that we are M-State, so who knows.
Indian burial mound follows us.

Good fanbase interaction, much better than being a visitor to other venues.
But, dammit, in the end, we lost. That's it.

it's that our defense looked absolutely terrible. It wasn't just talent either, which I will grant you is definantly lacking. I thought AU would be better and they are. However, they aren't quite as good as they looked tonight. Our defensive gameplan was horrible and we never adjusted. 3 down lineman? Really? Ok, so we went with 5 DBs so we could cover people. Problem is, we rarely had a DB within 10 yards of a receiver. We rarely blitzed, and we looked like a 1AA defense out there. It was beyond pathetic. Poor talent on defense I can handle. Poor coaching... well that's another story.

The last time they hung 49 on us we came back the next year and shut them out. Hell, maybe history repeats itself. This year is gonna suck, but maybe we make progress.

yesterday when I said he may eventually go farther than Mullen or Chizic. Said he had NO coaching talent and optimus even said he had never even been a real assistant coach. Sorry Sad , you are obviously as misinformed as I was.

Until Mullens recruits get a year under their belt, we are gong to have some embarrasing losses.

Jackie Sherril left Croom with all kinds of talent. Crooms left us with mediocre talent but a broken spirit. That is hard to overcome. I truly believe our players don't think they can win. They want to but 5 years of Crooms is hard to overcome.

Even with athletes, our defensive plan or scheme last night was high school at best. On top of a horrible defensive plan, we never made any type of adjustment, during the game or at half.

I have said all week that we would lose, and I actually thought we would lose by a touchdown or two. I am more upset at what I saw on defense last night. Give Mullen credit for blaming it on the coaches, that was a nice change of pace.

I cannot believe I am saying it but, Croom is not at fault for that defensive performance last night, that falls directly on Torbush and ultimately on Mullen.

What about the self doubt and overall gentleness taught to them by Crooms? Yes, our defensive sets didn't make sense, but our players play with the tenacity of a churchmouse.
Don't get me wrong, the potential is there even with our current personnel, but it is going to take some time to uncroom them.
Mullen can do it but we have to be patient. Also - We need a good defensive coordinator.

I suddenly found myself hoping that Sockless Joe Lee would magically appear on the sideline. His worst D's were better than what we saw last night.

that's because torbush didn't line one up. we put everyone in the secondary to tackle them 20 yards down field. 3 defensive linemen, really? how the 17 can you stop the run with 3 defensive linemen? i understand our secondary sucks, but you don't need 5 defensive backs to stop the run.

I didn't expect our D to look that bad. Next week's game will be interesting to see how we respond on D.

ole miss and unc. with quality players he's a very good dcoor. with respect the best schemes in the world don't work when the players aren't good enough.
