There is a point of information regarding Commissioner Slive that makes me wonder about a different angle in CamGate: Back in October the NCAA, the NFL and the NFLPA formed a panel to discuss the problemsof agents contacting college players. It seemed pretty obvious at the time that this panel was brought on by the incident involving the UNC players, among others. One of the key goals of the panel seemed to be establishing a system that could punish not only agents but players as well, even aftera player had signed an NFL contract. Two of the NCAA reps on this panel were Mike Slive and Jim Delaney (an outspoken critic of the Cam situation). One of the quotes from the panel was "Something will be done, and it will be done in the next few months"
Is it just coincidence that this panel met only a week or two before the Cam and Bond and Kenny Rogers stories broke?</p>

But I have thought all along that the investigation might have been focused more on Kenny Rogers than Cam. Slive says the SEC did not turn this matter over to the NCAA, and the statements from Stricklin have not said whether MSU went over Slive's head, or if this investigation started somewhere else. I still suspect the NFLPA mentioned to the NCAA that Kenny Rogers was involved with a lot of college players, and Cam's name surfaced.

The first thing that he did was blame the messenger. He said that we did not follow protocol. I think that the story got going again after the Sports Illustrated article where Cam said that he really wanted to come to State but hisslave trader dad chose Auburn. The problem with Slive is that we give this to him in Jan. We tell him that the dad was brokering a deal and we said no. How in the hell would he not contact AU and say you might want to look into this. He sits on it. That is why AU never "knew about the situation". It is all about the money. Auburn will win the NC and have it taken away within a year.
