is everything you want in a student athlete. I wish he could have 10 years of eligbility. Plays with intensity and is so unselfish. He was the less heralded player coming out of his high school (DJ Jeffries). He is in my top 5 of Mississippi State basketball players. Does all the little things and is a beast defensively.

And one final thing - he is like Lebron James when he decides to take it to the rim. He's either getting fouled or making the shot on penetration.

If there ever was a Boobie Dixon "Grindin for my State" award - he should be in the hall of fame of the award.

He came down with a rebound in a crowd last night and went straight back up with it for a bucket. It was a ball he had no business whatsoever getting. He not only got it, but powered up over bigger guys for the bucket.

We've been blessed with some guys who can do that type of thing over the years, and you can't help but get fired up as a teammate when you see your guy making an all-out effort play like that. It was very Brandon Vincent/Lawrence Roberts/Jamont Gordon like.

He goes 100% all the time. And like you said, he's so damn strong.

Cam Matthews is a rich man's Brandon Vincent. He's on my MSU basketball Mount Rushmore (which goes back to the 90s teams since I wasn't around to see Malone, Howell, etc.). Between he and Hubbard, we have 2 guys who exemplify so many of the positive qualities you want in college athletes, and they make this team really easy to root for.

Cam Matthews is THE model bulldog athlete. I am legitimately going to miss him when he graduates.

If "Leads by Example" was a person it is Cam Matthews. We best show him love on senior night later in the season.

Dude just does a little of everything and is absolutely unselfish. You don't usually see guys his size with assist and steals numbers like that.

My comfortable crotchety old guy narrative about modern college athletics being filled up exclusively with self-aggrandizing, self-promoting, selfish, money-hungry, pieces of $#!+, gets shot to hell with two guys like Hubb and Cam who completely destroy my comfortable narrative.

If there was an official MSU All-Time top 10 Athletes from all sports, I think you would have to have a spot for Cam. He has been such a huge part of this program. He is all dawg.

He embodies everything a college athlete should be. I know it wouldn't happen but how awesome would it be if his jersey was retired on senior night?
