College football live just said Cam Newton will play JC ball in Texas and after that, Joe Shad says he here's he may transfer to Mississippi State or Tennessee. Anyone else know anything or hear anything?

Cameron Newton played at Florida if you don't know who he is and was highly recruited out of high school. Having Mullen maybe we could have some pull on him over TENN....

He's 6'6" 240lbs. Physically gifted. Just didn't pan out for him b\c of Tebow. Guess he should have done what Snead did.

University of Florida police arrested sophomore quarterback Cameron Newton on Friday afternoon for felony charges of buglary, larceny and obstruction of justice, according to Alachua County jail records.

We will have matching sets of felonious acting but cop to a plea deal Florida transfers if did end up in Starkville. I must say, if the laptop had been stolen from a dead person or robbed from a tech geeks grave Jamar Hornsby would be more impressed.

If Tyler Russell turns out to be a solid player and earns PT this year, I will be surprised if Newton comes to MSU. If Russell is able to be redshirted though, you may luck out with your timing and end up with both Newton and Russell. I've always said that you need as many QBs as you can get, because they often don't pan out like you expect. The more of them you can get, the better your chance at having one turn out to be solid.

Rebel he says he won't make a decison until the end of summer, so Cam wouldn't know whether or not Russell will be getting early PT. The competition would make both QBs better. There is some hope for us though. At the end of the article it said that him and Mullen are still "tight" and that MSU is in the mix. That would an awesome player to get. Even if we only had him for a year. And yes you can never have too many QBs.

We dont need to worry about getting another QB until we completely fall out of the Barry Brunetti sweepstakes. Especially one with a very unsavory past. Let Kiffin have all thugs.(unless they are 5 star)

Mullen is being pretty clear that he isn't a big fan of redshirting players. If Russell is capable of helping us, and I think he will, he will play some this year. We won't see many Freshmens get redshirts until the talent level goes up a few notches.

Even if we get Brunnetti we will still only have Russell, Relf, Brunetti, and one more QB on the roster. There isn't exactly a lot of experience in that group. Getting Newton would give us a veteran guy and spread the QBs on some on the roster instead of having one Russell and two true freshmen.

If Kiffin didn't want Tahj Boyd when he was committed to them I don't think he will want Newton.

And I agree with that. You let the best play if they can help, because the 85 schollie limit puts a strain on you eventually if you redshirt too much.

The one time I think redshirting a bunch of people is good is when you get in the situation we have this fall with a big senior class that will have a lot of major contributors. We are going to need to rebuild a year when we lose those guys, so we need players on campus learning a year for when those seniors are gone next fall. Still, I think you play any freshmen that can help out at need positions.
