Can’t believe Bama went for it on 4th down

I think analytics says go for it there. 4th and short and inside their 10? A FG and they’ve only got to go 40 yards for the tie and have the ball last for a potential winning drive with plenty of time left. Go for it and don’t get it, they have to go 60-70 yards for the FG, have a chance of turning it over, need at least 30 or so yards just to flip the field with a punt. Go for it and get it? You are in complete control and worst case scenario is OT.

Go for it And not get it and wind up losing, no matter the circumstances, and you are fired.

Or….Don’t go for it, and then kick a FG, then have other team kick FG and send to OT where you lose, or give up game winning TD, or miss the FG and allow game winning FG on the other side….no matter the circumstances you are fired.

You get the 2 yards, and Auburn’s possible paths to a win are substantially reduced by many more magnitudes than if you attempt and make a FG. That’s how analytics work.

The analytics also say that state would 17 it up either way

I don't think 3 points would have won the game. I think he thought that himself. His defense was getting run out of the stadium and still might have went into overtime without the fumble.

Oh come on man. The conventional wisdom is you kick the FG, and you know that. I realize you are just a troll, but this is a poor effort. You need to pick up your game.

I’m a troll? OK. Says the guy who has been saying for months that there was no interest in Kiffin, and that Blake Shapen was trying to throw a TD pass when we were down 2 at the end of the Florida game. Jesus Christ.

The conventional wisdom from 1997 says kick the FG. Modern analytics says go for it on 4th and 2 or less in almost every situation between your own 40 yard line and the other team’s goal line.

You are an anti MSU troll. You only show up when we are wallowing in misery. Watch the highlight from the end zone perspective on the Florida game. We had guy wide open that would have scored had the ball got there. THE FACT remains that if Bama hadn’t scored and wound up losing that game the coach in all probability would have been fired. That took GUTS. It’s no surprise that you are adverse to recognizing THAT.

Well….I can’t prove or disprove this, since we are just about always wallowing in misery. Guess that makes me no different than anyone else on here?

Am I supposed to read the all-caps words louder?

You only show up for the most part after a loss. I look for you and several others after we lose and you are always here. You are hard to find after a win. That has been a consistent trend along with your fellow travelers for a long time. You can take the all caps anyway you want. The usual interpretation of them though, when used within a sentence instead of the whole sentence, is that the writer wanted to emphasize those words. That was my intention.
