Can anybody recall a blowout win over Memphis (State)?

The 30-10 win over them in 2001 was weird. They led 10-0 at halftime.
The 17-3 win in 2000 was actually more of a beat down. It felt like we won that game 34-3. A lot like last year's MTSU game, Memphis never had a chance but it wasn't out of reach.
In '96 we beat them 31-10 and they went and beat Peyton Manning and Tennessee.

We beat them by 30 in '78, that's the largest MoV.

and Memphis (based on foggy memory) was pretty decent that year. Wasn't that when Stobart was their coach? Seems like they screwed up running him off later.

89 yard FG (stretching it of course) from Cosby to win. Had to be 87 I think. We played like shat and pulled it out at the end.

Edit to say, maybe it was 85. Seems like we were down big in the game I'm remembering.

Yeah, Stobart was their coach. They also had Xavier Crawford (from what I remember was the David Fair of west TN) and they had Russell Copeland from Tupelo who went on to the NFL. So, they had a decent team. Still, we should have not lost. Just a let down game. Also, I remember they had a 4th and 1 just inside mid field at a critical point late in the game. We put all 11 guys on the LOS (somebody screwed up). Crawford busted through the line for a TD. Very frustrating defeat.

won it by going for two and making it in the final moments of the game. Really, one of the greatest MSU games of the 1970's. Of course, that was also the season we had that tremendous Sun Bowl victory over Norh Carolina (26-24).

I think the FG was about 52 or 53.
Exciting game...but the beginning of the end.

We had all Sr.O linemens that were not starters previously, and E Belard knew his job was on the block, so he decaired that we would win the SEC.
Won only one game after Mempo.

it is no way was a beat down. We were very fortunate to win that game. For one, we got a very favorable call on what appeared to be a fumble by us. It was also the hottest game in history....at least for me.

what has happened in the past is irrelevant to Saturday's game.

This is NOT the same Memphis team that they had in 1991, 2003, or whatever other year you want to pick, and this is not the same MSU team from those years.

I will be disappointed if we do not put up at least 35 on the board against them.
