Can anyone challenge Varnado for the Bailey Howell award this year?

I really don't know. Who else has done as well in-state? Varnado won it last year and Jamont Gordon won it in 2008. <div>
</div><div>Varnado breaks an NCAA (career) record, only 1,000/1,000/500 player in history of college basketball, National and SEC Defensive Player of the Year, led the SEC in rebounds, and averaged a double-double for the season (Varnado and Demarcus Cousins are the only players in the SEC to do so).</div>

This one should be the biggest "slam dunk" in the history of any of the awards---football, basketball or baseball. (Pun intended)

...being the #1 shot blocker in NCAA history is a crap stat. So that shouldn't enter into it.

So maybe Chris Warren or that guy from Southern Miss will win it.

Is this really a question?

Better question, if you guys didn't have Varnado, who would they give the award to, and would anyone deserve it?

I say no. I can't think of anyone else that would come close to deserving it.
