Can JF pull the upset again?

Rustburg is very good. JF hangs around and pulled the upset against Heritage . I called it. Can they do it again? I think JF scores late to win.

I picked JF to win and since they playing at home, I give them the edge

I wouldn't see this as an "upset"....unless you're just going off their record. JF is still good. Lost some games to good teams by just a little.

Rustburg is definitely the better team athletically. JF defense looked really good last week against a very talented Heritage offense. However, the rain sure helped some. I think the boys are starting to understand what they're capable of. They very well could have beaten MV and PH but I think the inexperience caused them to not be able to capitalize when it mattered most.

I still think there are a lot of doubters of this years Rustburg team... I think they'll be out for revenge for losing a close game to JF last year... JF lacks the experience to pull out close games this year and seem to heavily rely on the big plays that they have grown accustomed to from the past 2 years.

I guess when you're at the bottom of the barrel for so long and you finally start doing good; understandably, people don't want to believe the hype.

I'll stick to the 35-12 as I'm sure weather will be a factor again, JF will have to keep it on the ground and that plays to the strength of rustburgs defense. Not to mention you can load the box all night against JF and have a shot to win.

Speaking of upsets though... With the loss of Amhersts QB I think Brookville will give them a very close game. Bees will be out trying to rebound after 2 straight losses to rivals and over the past 6-7 years this game has always seemed to be a toss up....

Brookville is trash. I watched the game v Rustburg last night

That's a bit much. They have some talented skill players, and can score quickly through the air. The Brookville line is below average, and it has/will cost them. The rain didn't help them any against Rustburg, and they will have a more difficult time with a powerhouse Amherst team Friday. (even with out Turner).

JF is better than people think. They were in every game except Staunton River, and should have beaten Magna Vista. (missed extra points/ 2 pt conversions will haunt you). The defense looked much improved coming off the bye week, and they called up a freshman rb that is very talented. They have a tremendous coaching staff that puts them in a position to succeed. Rustburg is playing much better than many (including me) expected. Solid defense and power running game. The passing game is not very good, and their depth is a concern. If they just find one more lineman to rotate in to keep the big fellas fresh they will benefit at the end of games. They have a junior lineman that I have heard is good and can play all five o-line spots.
If the rain comes pouring down again this game will not take long. Neither team will pass much (if any), and the clock will just move right along. It should be an old fashioned slobber knocker with both teams pounding the rock. I'm thinking...Rustburg 20-18

Cecil Phillips could use his quarterback off of the 8th grade team
and still beat Brookville. Worst defense I've seen the Bees have
in many years.

I'm not saying they will win but they do have the firepower on offense... I'm just saying if somehow they figured out a way to win, I wouldn't be all that surprised.

Still sticking with 35-12 though against JF... They look like they are very weak up front on D and there are 3-4 guys for Rustburg that touch the rock consistently and efficiently. Brookville loaded the box last week and couldn't stop it and that's when Rustburg would throw to the outside... Passes weren't pretty but if I remember correctly he only threw one incompletion which didn't count bc of pass interference. I'll be at the game until the rain becomes too much for me.

I agree they do have some of the best skilled players in the
area on offense and who knows sometimes bad weather
can be the great equalizer. Can't see the Cavaliers hanging
with the Reddevils.Rustburg by two touchdowns.

I wasn't gonna agree with him but being that I hate the bees as much as any other JF or Rustburg fan I'm not exactly mad at that comment lol

Couple of teams I don't care for but I wouldn't call a bunch of kids that's trying trash.Trash is rapist, child molesters and people who commit murders not high school kids.Just my opinion.

Woahhhh relax fellas. Of course I would never belittle kids busting their butts for a sport they love and are passionate about. It was a joke, every JF or Brookville fan will mess around and say stuff like that about the other team. I guess that's hard to tell on a screen instead of in person. Sorry, didn't mean for that to be taken so literal haha

i wouldn't say they should've beat mv, jf went for 2 there last several tds and didn't get them, mv had ball last 5 minutes running clock out but still driving down field, mv was up on them 3 tds at one point

JF defense looking solid, play to play. But still giving up some big plays on clutch downs.

It was a slobber knocker. Rustburg got the big plays when they needed them and gets a huge win on the road. Mixed with Brookville beating Amherst .....it's another wild night in the Seminole District

JF did get jobbed on the inadvertent whistle call that cost them a perfectly timed play action pass that would have been a td. Not taking anything from Rustburg they showed heart and will, but that was goofy timing for a whistle

JF wins the MV game if the refs don't throw a flag in JF on the last touchdown for celebration just because the kid raised his arms after a hard running TD. Pushed them back 15 yard for the conversion attempt.

Good call on this game being close. It was a thriller. You are also right about the junior lineman. I personally know some family members of the players and they have told me that the junior should be starting. They say the only reason he isn't is because they have so many seniors. Right now they are winning so they don't want to change anything, so he gets rotated in a little, and waits for his chance to really show what he has. Don't be surprised to see him on the field more soon.

wrong on the Rustburg/JF score but was right about the Bees pulling the upset. JF impressed me, unfortunately probably not going to make playoffs though. Good team, I think they win 2 more though.
