We are signing a ton of defensive backs (CB and safety). I thought there was only one transfer portal window which is going on now.

Hell, they said on the broadcast Oregon got some transfer running backs during the playoffs who could play if needed.

I just don't think there are any hard and fast rules anymore.

They know what they are doing. When your average offensive drive amounts to 3 plays , -1 yards of offense, and barely takes 60 seconds off the clock, you are going to need some depth in the secondary.

The current rule is that you can transfer outside of the portal, but you may have to sit out a year unless you get some type of waiver. Im really not sure if the NCAA would even try to enforce it at this point, though, and I'll bet waivers are easy to get (sick mother, changed your major to parks and rec., etc.)

You can also transfer outside the portal window if there is a coaching change, or if you are a graduate student.

And then there is the case of Miami DB Xavier Lucas, who is the subject of the lawsuit by Wisconsin against Miami. Wisconsin wouldnt let him enter the portal due to his contract obligations, so he just left school and enrolled at Miami on his own. NCAA said that was fine, although Im not sure if he is able to be on scholarship.

I do know he will miss the first half of the Championship game due to targeting against UMiss.

All it's going to take is some guy to hire a lawyer and whatever rules they are operating on today will change to whatever that judge orders until trial. Then the NCAA says uncle.

My understanding is the window is for players to enter. Once the window closes you can't enter unless your coach leaves. However, I don't think the window has anything to do with when a team can sign players who entered the portal during the window. It's just once the window closes, those are the players to pick from, no one else is entering until the next window. Again, I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's how it works.

31.5% of football players have entered the transfer portal and a lot of them got bad advice. Most don't know it but a some of those guys will never play college football again.

The Prairie View A&M coach was pretty candid in a video talking about the players moms and rogue uncles showing up as "amateur agents" and it is a coaches worst nightmare to deal with.

See. All these players lawyering up and suing for everything under the sun.
why can’t we fans lawyer up and file a class action suit against the NCAA requiring them to enforce the NIL rules? We have rights too ya know! 😳

Never forget that some of them had no choice but to enter the portal.

I suspect a lot if them didn’t get bad advice. They got cut.

That is exactly how Saban used the portal and I didn't blame him. It is the one benefit of having the portal. Cull the players that are under performing or causing distractions. It is also a part of the equation we aren't privy. A good player sometimes enters the portal and we think we should retain them while the coach has a different opinion.
