and capture a bowl invitation? Is it possible to win next week against Indy. I say yes it is.
Throw MSU and Wisconsin in the mix as the worst teamsExactly who do you think those 3 wins come against? Right now, Penn State and Purdue are the worse teams in the B1G conference and they don’t play each other. This team may go winless in the B1G conference.
Interesting. What can you realistically see happening that would lead us to a win over Indiana?and capture a bowl invitation? Is it possible to win next week against Indy. I say yes it is.
I don’t know how Fickell is still employed in Madison. They are really, really bad and he was the darling coaching prospect just a few years ago.Throw MSU and Wisconsin in the mix as the worst teams
I agree. I think people are underestimating how depleted this program could be depending on the timing of a new coach being named and how many from the current roster transfer out.Interesting. What can you realistically see happening that would lead us to a win over Indiana?
I think if we go 6-6 and have to go to a bowl, we better have a HC named who can retain a solid core of players who have eligibility left and want to stay at Penn State, or we may not be able to field a competitive team. Anyone with NFL aspirations will be off to train for the draft evaluations.
Just my currently pessimistic state of mind.
THAT IS WHY WE MUST WIN THE NEXT 3 GAMESI agree. I think people are underestimating how depleted this program could be depending on the timing of a new coach being named and how many from the current roster transfer out.
The next 3 - Indiana, Mich. State, Nebraska? We travel to Rutgers after that.THAT IS WHY WE MUST WIN THE NEXT 3 GAMES
The vast majority of the ones who will transfer out won’t be big losses, as they’re just roster fillers. Let’s face it, if we had played any team with a pulse in the non-conference schedule, we’d be winless, and a lot of players who will transfer out are largely responsible. Let them go and turn another program into complete garbage.I agree. I’m either confused or some have lost perspective. Didn’t many advocate for moving on from Franklin to get over the hump in big games? So, now, there’s no talent on the roster anywhere and we want the majority of them to leave and begin a total rebuild? We’ve seen a total rebuild before. That’s what Franklin did when he got here. It’s a slow, painful process (Remember losing to MD?) So, by saying PSU has a roster full of roster fillers and you want to see them all go, you want to start back at the sanction level of talent all over again? So, we hated Franklin that much that’s what we would rather see the program go through again? The vast majority of the ones who will transfer out won’t be big losses, as they’re just roster fillers. Based upon the on-field results, it seems abundantly clear that the talent on this team is poor. It is not the roster of a ‘blue blood’. It is on the level of traditional Temple. They are just lousy.I either confused or some have lost perspective. …. So, now, there’s no talent on the roster anywhere and we want the majority of them to leave and begin a total rebuild?
We are just in the beginning of the required purge of the disease that is Franklin. Going to be a slow painful process but necessary.I either confused or some have lost perspective. He is going to be a great player. I call him the “Chazmanian Devil.” Played for Warren Harding - first high school where I started watching games as a kid when we moved there in the mid 60’s. A crappy ex-Harding player had his seats directly in front of us, a guy named Paul Warfield. ;-)My prediction is Chaz Coleman to da Ohowihate suckeyes in columbASS by Ground Hog Day.
And, I wouldn’t call him a lousy player!
I don’t think the roster is devoid of talent. I think they lack direction and motivation. That’s on the coaching staff. 100%. I agree with that. But saying this roster has no talent is a bit misguided.Based upon the on-field results, it seems abundantly clear that the talent on this team is poor. It is not the roster of a ‘blue blood’. PSU isn’t ‘choosing’ to do a rebuild. They HAVE TO do a rebuild.
Even if, by some miracle, they beat Nebraska, Michigan State and Rutgers and be toilet bowl eligible I am not convinced they would be able to field a competitive team after the seniors sit out and many of the underclassmen enter the portaland capture a bowl invitation? Is it possible to win next week against Indy. I say yes it is.
And that, IMO, would fall on Pat K.Even if, by some miracle, they beat Nebraska, Michigan State and Rutgers and be toilet bowl eligible I am not convinced they would be able to field a competitive team after the seniors sit out and many of the underclassmen enter the portal
Why exactly? Terry is the interim coach and the players are going to look to their future. Seniors, any with any possibility of playing at the next level, surely are not gong to risk injury for something this meaningless. As for the rest of he blue chip talent on the roster, many will surely be looking for a new landing spot. There is no need to speculate, though; there is zero chance that this clown show wins six games. And that, IMO, would fall on Pat K.
All true...why would anyone be upset if a player opts out of a scrimmage? How is that on the AD? Why would Allen or others risk injury? Why would those likely to transfer risk injury? Why exactly? Ten years from now you will be posting the same thing about the next three coaches we go through. We are just in the beginning of the required purge of the disease that is Franklin. Going to be a slow painful process but necessary.

Count on it. Most bigtime programs will take their foot off the pedal when the game is already decided - not Cignetti and Indiana. He's starting to rub many B1G programs and coaches the wrong way..........especially the lower programsIndiana is a loss. Cignetti will probably run it up and enjoy doing it. The skid stops at 6 in a row, because MSU is so putrid. If MSU plays a spring game style scrimmage in their Bye this weekend, somehow both Green and White will lose. Nebraska is probably a loss. Rutgers is a toss up. 5-7 at best, 4-8 at worst. Even limping to 6-6, PSU probably declines the bid to the December No Name Bowl sponsored by Company You’ve Never Heard Of.
I don’t begrudge any one doing what is best for them. The fact is Kraft is forcing their hand with the timing of the firing and the sh^tshow that remains. If the roster is depleted to the point of not being able to compete, that falls on Kraft. Rightly or wrongly. He’s the face of the program now, not the interim coach and lame duck coaching staff. The buck stops with Kraft now. It was his decision. Why exactly? Terry is the interim coach and the players are going to look to their future. When did you want him to fire Franklin?I don’t begrudge any one doing what is best for them. The fact is Kraft is forcing their hand with the timing of the firing and the sh^tshow that remains. This is presumably based on the assumption that none of our upwardly mobile players make “business decisions” prior to season’s end.and capture a bowl invitation? Is it possible to win next week against Indy. I say yes it is.
Those that have played 4 games already have zero incentive to do thatThis is presumably based on the assumption that none of our upwardly mobile players make “business decisions” prior to season’s end.
So, are they starters or are they "roster fillers"? Because if they are responsible for the losses, they must be playing. Otherwise, how can you blame them? The vast majority of the ones who will transfer out won’t be big losses, as they’re just roster fillers. I agree three of four are winnable. Nebraska's QB Riola left their game vs USC last night with an injury. Don't know the severity of it, but that would make the QB play more even in our game if he is out. They are already bowl-eligible. Now they're playing for a better tier of bowl.3 of 4 are winnable. Really depends on the mental state of team. Are they checked out? Do NIL commitments matter?
Not if we have ten years of 7-5 seasons.Maybe...but it's worth the risk
Wow, really looking perfect so far. It did nothing but put the program in a far worse position than it was. The timing was the opposite of perfect. When did you want him to fire Franklin?
Why wait?
The timing was perfect.
100% still worth the riskNot if we have ten years of 7-5 seasons.
