Until UK can red shirt all of it's OL and DL, it will not be able to compete with the Alabama's, OSU, Mich., etc. I don't care how good a lineman is, coming out of high school, he is still only 17 or 18 year old kid, competing against a 20 or 21 year old man. There is a great amount of difference in experience, and usually in strength and technique. I realize there are exceptions, but they are far and few. RB's and Wide receivers are different, but usually a year of red shirting will help them. Again, there are exceptions. In order to compete with the upper echelon of football, as we have seen in the past, you must go two and three deep, especially with the linemen. I think were on the way to be able to compete with the top echelon of football. At least I hope so. There are several of us "Old Farts" who have waited, and hoped we would see that day again. I don't know about the others, but I've never given up hope.

OLD STOLL FIELD GUY!

Yeah, people keep analyzing the schedule, talking about it being a "tough schedule" because we don't get the benefit of having weaker opponents play us in CWS (making wins even more likely) and traditional "write it off" games on the road, but I disagree given the way this team is trending.

Let the best come to CWS, where we have the best chance of finally beating them. We will travel to play those we have the best chance of beating on the road. Put it all together, and you can turn in a real banner year, the kind we have not seen since the 1970's.

Florida, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Missouri, and U of L all at home? CWS should be rockin' next fall.

That opening weekend trip to Hattiesburg is going to be a real tone setter, huh? Those guys are owed a good one.

It would be a nice little rule, that if u make a bowl game u can play your redshirts, since it's technically "post" season, and not count against the redshirt. Either way, redshirting these really talented guys was something UK never had the luxury to do in the past.
I saw a guy post a schedule for cfb for an 8 team playoff. Won't go into the whole thing but the first 2 games were against 1aa schools and you could play rs's wo them losing their rs. I like being able to play rs's in bowls too cause the semester is over before Christmas if I'm not mistaken... either way I like your idea.

I particularly loved the fact that we rotated about 9 guys, which, one would hope, would mean that losses to injury and graduation have a lesser effect because the "non-starters" have real playing time.

Also, I wonder, from the start of the season until the end, it certainly helped out team to go against better defensive lines than they saw in practice every day. I know that I am not saying good things about our DL but I think we all admit that we have to get better there.
