Can we just admit this is the problem?

No color, religion, nothing. The problem is that there are just too many people spurting out babies that they shouldn't have. Overpopulation is BY FAR the biggest problem facing the planet.

Now that's some outside-the-box thinking there, Glenn. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you are on the same side that deems abortion to be murder. What's your suggestion to fix this problem? Abstinence? Forced sterilization? It seems the same side also thinks it's a religious right to deny a woman birth control. Hell there's a pretty popular religion in this country with an official position that birth control is evil and immoral. So how do we fix this 'spurting out babies' problem?

Or that we just have some very bad cops on forces around the nation. I mean its a ****** paying job, well at least not worth it considering what you have to deal with day in and day out from the dreads of society. Throw in the media and public eye watching your every move and most "normal" people would not have the desire to do it for what it pays. So that leaves you with some very questionable character of people who are left in the pool of candidates to hire. Not saying all law officers are bad, but with the conditions the job creates, only the somewhat crazy or questionable character people end up getting hired simply because there are not enough quality candidates to fill positions. So in short, you end up with some bad hires and people with a different moral compass than normal folks. They try to get their respect and attention by using their badge as a shield and over step the boundaries of serving and protecting. Kind of like the Billy Bad *** guys in high school or guys who liked to bully people because the where considered outsiders or different from the normal circles or cliques of social circles. they did not have friends or social standing so they bullied people to gain respect and attention.

I think the OP is channeling Ruth Bader Ginsburg:

"Frankly I had thought that at the time [Roe vs. Wade] was decided," Ginsburg said, "there was concern about population growth and particularly growth in populations that we don't want to have too many of."

aka, eugenics. A topic generally avoided in polite society, where folks instinctively know that picking and choosing which groups of people should be culled isn't an endeavor worth considering. Unless you're a celebrated Supreme Court justice, in which case apparently it's good to go.

The Internet/Social Media is the major problem imo.

It makes a thousand people seem like a million & now everybodys an expert.

SM robs people mostly the youth from real life experience & in return prevents WISDOM.

It also creates harmful bubbles/echo chambers that lead to hive minds behaviors.

I get called a lot of names on this site & people ask for me to be banned or im put on ignore & thats fine i really dont care. It’s just the internet NOT REAL LIFE. The internet creates a faux reality of sorts bcuz u can block ban or ignore anyone you dont like & or agree with.

Prevents Real discussions & “relationships”

Yes. China prefers males but not in the sense of population control but in the sense of complete & total obedience.

Its actually easier to control men in a communistic system. Men can be manipulated easier through violence.

Female liberation “breeds” an individuality that can grow out of control... communistically speaking

Actually kind of agree with this. I would argue though cities not people are the real problem. Cities let extra people exist because the regional/global power can import resources from and export waste to the country.

It seems like this problem is in the process of solving itself.

The solution is to grow strong families with actual moral standards and the correct basis for those moral standards.

Stop having sex before marriage? Let's face it - it's become laughable and unthinkable even among people that consider themselves Christian today. To have a moral touchstone that helps overcome basic instincts and develop personal discipline and responsibility for your actions. Dismissed as impossible/impractical, even by the pew-sitters.

Alternatively, continue to expect humans to perpetuate the current cycle of behaving like immoral animals, slaughter the unborn by the millions and sit around wondering why everything is so screwed up.

That is why I am 100% behind planned parenthood. Condoms AND birth control prescriptions should be available free of charge at every County Health Department in the country. Birth Control pills, in general, should be free of charge to everyone, even if that requires government funding to make it happen. And yes, I am pro-choice in a big way. Abortion serves a purpose to our society. I am afraid, however, the wrong women are getting them.

Always amazes me people who believe in overpopulation never take the step that makes the most sense and doesn't affect other people. If you're pro choice then kill yourself first we'll reassess in a few years.
I’m glad someone here gets it.

Agreed. Everybody knows the logical way to reduce population but nobody ever leads by example. Strange. But kill those babies.

Greed is the problem. We have the resources to sustain the population if everything wasn't a commodity.

Food, water, housing, etc.--none of that is unattainable because of the population size. Pollution, war, all of it comes from someone's desire to control as much of something as they can. If you cut the population in half, they'd just double the price on the survivors.

Greed is not the problem.

If the rest of the world lived as well as the average American, it would require something like three or four Earths worht of resources. The average American also consumes and enjoys a significantly higher quality of life in a material sense than his Western or other developed country counterparts.

You cannot bring the below average American up to the average American without significantly lowering the wealth of the average American.

If greed is an actual problem, it's that the average American consumes (greed) much more than he produces wrt to the world.

Overpopulation is a myth and backed up by 19th century racial science and eugenics. It’s been disproven over and over again but it is more often than nought used to prop up racist ideas.

There are more than enough resources to support this many people on the planet. The real problem is inefficiency and what I have come to believe is the root of the problem that a philosophy professor of mine first shared with me: we have never designed a political or economic system to account for the mass of people currently living.
