Florida has formally announced the decision (Napier firing), with athletic director Scott Stricklin adding: "The standards and expectations for Gators football are to win championships—not simply to compete. We exist to win, and will not settle for less."

Yea, we can say that in baseball and women's basketball. Football? We haven't even been to a big bowl. At this point we need to "simply compete". Like walking before we can run.

Right. Our think our goal is to become a top 25 team.

Top 20 is our ceiling. But, I, for one, would be happy being an annual Top 20 team.

Have to wonder what the "powers" were drinking when they settled for Beamer. smh Arkansas fans are probably asking the same thing about Pittman.

We have top 25 talent but that doesn't seem to be enough at SC. We don't have Nike $ so we need to invest heavily on the LOS and build out from there but leaning on a strong defense as our "culture". We had everything we needed last year to make it to the playoffs except an OL.......or should I say OL coach.

Beamer may have tanked his head coaching career with the Teasley hire.

The soft bigotry of low expectations.

We have it all here at Carolina: the support, the money, the conference, the location, etc. If it can be done at other SEC schools, it can be done here. Too many "die-hard" fans are satisfied with mediocrity. How many time have you heard "I'd be happy with 6-7 wins this year"? It's been that way for years.

Teasley shouldn't have been hired and at the very least let go after his first year as a failed experiment. He could have been moved over to recruiting because he is pretty good at that. I also think that Loggains would have looked a lot better as OC if OL coach was even average.

Just being realistic. What you fail to understand is that eventually, we will go to 16 team playoffs. When that happens, if we become an annual Top 20 team, we will, at times, qualify for the playoffs, where anything can happen.

I want our odds of winning games against other SEC teams to be more than a crapshoot, but we aren't there yet.

Expanding the playoffs to back them up to take in teams that have zero chance of winning is a terrible idea.

Realistically settling for slightly above average?! I know a bunch of you didn't take the same attitude in your personal lives

You skated over the last 4 words in my sentence "where anything can happen". What do you think that means? It means we could win it all. How is that "settling for slightly above average"?

And I have been clear that we need to cut Beamer loose. How is that "settling for slightly above average"?

But you're setting your ceiling at a little above average and saying but hey if we catch lighting in a bottle great?!

If we become an annual Top 20 team, we could go anywhere from 1 to 20? How is that settling? We won't always make it into the the Top 10 or 5. But sometimes we will. But we will also fall between 15 and 20. I guess I could have said that I will only settle for always the top spot. But how realistic is that?

I have made it abundantly clear, even before the Oklahoma game, that Beamer needs to go. Someone "settling" would prefer we stick with Beamer.

It's no biggie. I believe we are all ticked off that the program is unnecessarily in the hands of someone who was never thought of highly enough to be put in charge of even a low-tier FBS school, much less a SEC school. The incredible thing is that they put in charge of the program someone so unqualified after the screw up of hiring a proven Head Coach loser in Muschamp. It's as if they are trying to sabotage football on purpose.
