Can you believe it has been ten years since 3rd and 57?

when we held Cadillac and Auburn without a first down for three quarters was the high water mark of MSU football. We completely whipped top 10 teams in back to back weeks.

Of course we watched those two teams play for the SEC championship.

Thought I remember our crowd chanting Rudy during that ballgame.

We put a knot on Bamas head that year as well.

I still remember the guy behind me screaming that you couldn't beat Spurrier with field goals after we went up 3-0.

Then close it out losing to Arkansas in the freezing cold and Ole Miss.

Spurrier gets so frustrated he calls for the intentional safety on THIRD DOWN, extending MSU's lead from 8 to 10. He admitted after the game he was confused on the score.

That game was doomed com the coin flip. Florida won the toss and instead of deferring to the 2nd half, Florida said "we want to kick"... that's the only game i've ever seen a team receive the kick to start both halves.

to win the SEC title. No coming from behind, 4 last minute field goals, none of that. In '98 the stars aligned. In '99 the ball bounced our way, but the stars didn't completely align. In 2000 we had the personnel and the coaching to get it done. Could we have won the National Title? probably not, FSU and Oklahoma were pretty good that year. But we were definitely BCS good.

Yes, the wind blown FG game. The wind was so strong that UMiss wanted to have the wind at their backs for the 1st quarter. They won the toss, and the team captain said "We'll kick that way". The referee is supposed to accept the first thing you say, so the ref turns to the MSU captain and says "Mississippi has chosen to kick, which endzone would you like to defend". So MSU started the game with UMiss kicking into the wind.

In the 3rd quarter, MSU elected to receive, and even though they would be kicking into the wind, UMiss decided they wanted the wind at their backs in the 4th quarter. That turned out to be a wise choice.

Instant replay would have (maybe if we just take the TD away) given us a win at LSU and a dry field would have help us get the three field goals we missed that day.

a fluke pass by a back up QB over Kendall Roberson, a previous All-American CB back from knee surgery. Should have never been in the situation to begin with. The Egg Bowl, I think we were just down after the Arkansas game. Plus Madkin was hurt or sick or something as well. But that was our worst defeat of the year so I have to hand it to the rebs. Still11-2 or 10-2 wasn't bad, and it would have been enough to put us in Atlanta, where the 2 teams who played for the title that year, we had smoked earlier on.

What would our mindset have been for the UF game had we beaten SC? Probably no different considering Spurrier is coming to town with the #3 team in the country. But would we have been a little cockier? Would that have changed the way we approached the game from a mental standpoint? And, if so, would that have changed the outcome at all? Probably not, but I've always had that thought in the back of my mind.

where we received the kickoff to start both the game and the second half? I can't remember the explanation for that one, but I'm almost positive that happened and Spurrier screwed that up also.

Keith Fourcade of OM (John's baby brother) said, "We'll kick". The Ref was about to ask him, "Are you sure?", when our special teams captain (whose name I forget and I think was a walk-on) jumped in real fast and said, "We'll take the that goal" where the wind was blowing to our backs.

They either elected to kick at the start, or deferred to the 2nd half, and mistakenly chose to kick again. As I recall, Spurrier was pissed.
