Can you spare a cool 1.6B for a baseball team?

If so, you could own the Marlins. Aren't they one of the worst teams in baseball with little to no support in terms of paying customers? I have to think that community isn't real happy with Loria after they chipped in 500 million or more for his new stadium and seemed reluctant to even attempt to build a winner.

jeffrey loria is a money grubbing *****. maybe he cared about winning -- kinda -- but no way in heck he was actually going to try to spend his own resources to do so. he spent the money that other owners gave him in collective bargaining and spent taxpayers money on his stadium.

in one sense that's smart -- if all you care about is money. in others? i can't think of a fan who thinks he's actually a good owner -- or even close.

this guy used to own the red sox. he left, they won (admittedly they were terrible for forever, but let's get real here -- they always had the means). not much else to say.

Loria and his son-in-law paid themselves $ 5 million dollars each in advisory capacities. This is from money that MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL gave to each team. When MBL found out about it the practice abruptly stopped. Loria and Samson are cheap and greedy.

If someone were to buy the Marlins Loria would profit by about a BILLION dollars. 99% of South Florida was be ecstatic with a new owner.

I would buy the team if I had the money, just a bunch of zeros short.
