I wonder what affect this has on rankings?
Sure kills some of the kids stats. Also a blow to the athletic fund.. Should be some type of financial penalty to Greenwood

If it were only that easy. Murphy, and I'm sure other schools, can't find anyone to play them. Thank the Lord for Franklin, they are the only out-of-conference rival who has stayed with us. Smoky Mountain dropping us a few years ago really hurt. The same year Fannin Co, GA dropped us .... losing two traditional rivals in one season. The Dogs traveled all the way to Lexington, NC to get a non-conference game two weeks ago.
Hickory Hawks will be off our schedule this year I hope. Would love to pick up Polk, Owen, West Hendo, Hendersonville, Roberson, Reynolds or Asheville.
I would imagine very little. The main reason its a blow is the passing game needed more live reps before Robbinsville game and now that aint happening.
I wouldn't fault them or penalize them . Three quarters of South Carolina are under a hurricane warning with this storm tracking across the entire state once it makes landfall. As disappointed as I am I can understand why they would cancel .
Christ School is going to be off from what I’ve heard. Possibly bringing Smoky back to the schedule. Of course this is conjecture and is about as reliable as writing in sand.

Christ School is a yearly contract. No guarantee that we’ll play them next year.

Quite a difference in school size really. Might be a close game for a quarter or 2, but wouldn't be a contest by nights end.
We need a SMC vs WHC week on the schedule. Mitchell hasn't had a SMC team on the schedule in a couple years, since playing Cherokee yearly for 6 or so seasons. I guess you don't want to schedule teams you might see in the playoffs...
Murphy should call Greenback,TN to see if they have any open dates next year. Only 75 miles away.
It cracks me up when you want the SMC to schedule up to play a really good program. It’s great you guys understand the concept, now if you would only try it.
Dogtuff, pretty sure Hayesville will drop Heritage next year. That means you would both have an opening on the same week.
That’s why I said Greenback,TN.One of the best 1a schools in TN probably smaller then Murphy. Everyone could get on the message boards talk about how both states suck at football. In reality it would be a game against 2 really good schools that would help you prepare for playoff time. Nobody would really have anything to lose. You would just play ball.
The school that makes the most sense for Murphy would be Union County Ga. They have a pretty decent football team and think that both schools would benefit from it and make a decent amount at the gate.
