That’s about as easy of a move as it gets.

Only problem is they may have competition for him from Arkansas, Auburn, maybe even LSU.
Yep. This is shaping up to be a bad year to be looking for a coach if you don't get your guy locked up early.

Promote the DC probably, and hope he's good.

Didn't work out for us the last time we tried it.

that’s the 5 I think they’d interview and have a shot at.

I pray if kiffin does leave they just promote Golding and it goes bad

They should be reaching out to him now. Arkansas and Auburn could be tough competition for them. But if LSU fires Kelly, they will sort of be in teh same position as UF. That will be an upgrade for them, but fans may still be pissed about hiring a coach that was just fired for not winning enough big games. I think Franklin and Kiffin appear to be the two best bets out there, but a lot of fans would rather have an up and comer who in theory has an unlimited ceiling over a coach that has already supposedly hit it.

I think that's somewhat stupid and doesn't take into account how much luck is still involved plus the ability for coaches to grow or hire better assistants, and grossly underestimates the risk that someone has caught lightning in a bottle at a lower level and won't be able to replicate it (well high there sunbelt billy). But it seems to be the attitude of a lot of fans.

I think Kiffin is going to stay, but if Arkansas doesn't hire Petrino - he will be their top pick.

James Franklin will not come back to the SEC.

reading this, I just thought that the greatest ALPHA move ever would be LSU fires Kelly effective immediately and announces Kiffen as their new HC

You never want to follow the man. Kiffin is UM’s Saban… who would they go after? Freeze 2.0?
That's just sad. I know he's has three 10 win seasons, but that makes him their "Saban"?

And, yeah, I know Mullen only had one 10 win season and three 9 win seasons....that's why he wasn't our "Saban".

Unfortunately they have a competent AD this time around, so if Lane does leave the odds of them hiring a total buffoon are lower than they would have been 10 years ago.

I'm available, would cost a lot less, and understand that I am a scapegoat as "the guy who followed Kiffin." C'mon, Ole Miss, make it happen. I'll do the best possible job that I can. (wink, wink, nudge, nudge)

Pete Golding, supposedly, if Kiffin leaves. Plan is to save money on the HC salary and dump more into NIL. Bold strategy.
