I truly believe if we had gotten off the field on any one of those plays we would have taken the lead. Sims would have had plenty of time to get them back down the field of course just like he did at LSU, but man oh man what I wouldn't give for us to have made one of those three plays.

I'm right there with you...

I told my Alabama colleagues all week that we would try to put it on Blake Sims to beat us, and I don't think he can.

I was wrong. Lots of crow this week. And it's over those two 10 yard runs.

All I wanted was us to have one offensive possession where it was within one score. We never got that chance.

Incoming sour grapes, but if we weren't getting held he wouldn't have gotten those 1st downs.

Saban said after the game that they made the plays they needed to make to win. Those 3 plays and the 3 picks were the ballgame. If we make even half of those 6 plays, we win the game easily.

Yep. The noose was definitely getting tighter on them. I really thought we had a chance when we got them to 3rd and long on each of those...

So we play the 1B's so that we're fresh in the 4th quarter. The 1Bs give up that huge play to Cooper and regardless of whether you think Henry should've been awarded a touchdown or not, they cost us 7 points. But then the 1As looked gassed trying to get the off the field on that final drive.

That's the worst of both worlds right there. Still I don't blame our defense at all. Our offensive play calling and execution was pathetic in the first half. We played like the moment was too big for us and when we finally snapped out of it the hole was too big. Credit to the defense for keeping us in it.

That drive did hurt and I'm not trying to pick on the team when I say this, but the part that I can't get past is the fact that we did almost nothing that we needed to do in order to win that game.

Good offensive gameplan? Nope
Protect the ball? Nope
Force turnovers? Nope
Establish a passing game to free up the run? Nope

I don't know what we practiced all week, but I felt that Saturday was a poor gameplan, poor execution of the gameplan that we did have, and we just didn't do a thing to win that game. That said, I'll maintain that it says something about how talented we are if we can play that poorly on the road against a team like Bama and still come within 5. We've got time to put that one behind us and still win a championship

Good catch, Captain Wiki...

...Guess I should have put it down in the thread with misspelling pet peeves and it would've made more cents.

with Bama, it's the no-calls that will eat you up.

the holding to spring a run, not called. They grab receivers breaking open, not called. Lining up in the neutral zone, etc. etc. I don't think it's even intentional by the refs, to me it is the same as the Michael Jordan effect - refs expect these guys to be superhuman and perfect because they are a Saban coached team, and are more likely to keep that thing in their pocket.

That ended our chances... That and boneheaded clock management at the end of the game. We really needed the D to stop them on that drive. They were so damn close.

Yeah the two scrambles by Sims when it looked like we were gonna get to him and force a punt just ripped my heart out.
