Cap-8, SWAC teams prohibited from playing Cardinal Gibbons, other non-public schools

Some big, bad public Wake County 4A schools are very scared. Some food for thought here ... Cardinal Gibbons would be in the 4A bracket should they make the football playoffs. Might be interesting if they wind up playing Scotland. Just a thought

They'll have a hard time finding any understanding from the Meck Co folk on this subject, since we've fully embraced our NCHSAA parochial (Charlotte Catholic).

Fair or not, their whole line of reasoning definitely screams "ducking competition."

Though CG has moved up to 4A in the PAC-6, they may move back down to 3A if the 20-30-30-20 realignment plan takes effect. Seems like Charlotte Catholic has a good relationship with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg schools.

Something to think about here ... Is 20-30-30-20 a definite thing for 2017? If so, CG would most likely be 3A. If some form of 25-25-25-25 (either based on all schools or just the football schools) is going to be used, then you'll have some screaming Wake County schools that don't want Gibbons in their conference.
