Awesome meeting you and you and your family Saturday. This is Dad and not the boys!! You know what I mean. What a great game and the people I met from GBW were awesome. Tremendous game and so proud that we were a part of it. Kids and parents will remember it forever. POY and all that stuff doesnt matter - epic game and I know we are all proud of all. Maybe some day SEC and Big 10 match up again in a game. All of you should be very proud - we are. Class act GBW.

Looks like he somehow missed your post. Probably because he was out lobbying for Brodner for POY. Maybe this will jostle him...

Wow I did miss this as a thread post, but rest assured I responded to the direct message sent at roughly the same time by Mr. Lees.

As I said before in my posts on this board, I always try to remember that we are discussing the play of 16-17 year old young men. As such, I always try to focus my attention on the positive attributes of my guy instead of making derogatory comments about the other kids. If that is considered "lobbying for Brodner," guilty as charged. Pretty sure my final "lobbying" effort was to call all three guys POY on Sunday, but I argued the point enough before that your point is taken.

The funniest part of last Saturday was running into ETL's son, who turned out to be a real sharp dude. He wore a shirt that said something like "not bad for a kid that throws off his back foot." When he found me at Fatty's before the game, he said he had made the shirt for me. We had some huge laughs, but I suggested then and still do now that I never disparaged Riley Lees. My arguments were more that you can't compare things like yards per carry because the systems and positions they played were so different. I called out Goodnames as the culprit, but he had already let out.

The good news is that Ed Lees, his wife, their son and all their friends were amazingly fun people. You can tell that Riley will be successful in life no matter what he chooses to do because his family just has that special thing. I also suggested to the Lees family that the reason I wrote only about ten words before the title game, was that I had watched all the film and I wasn't sure GW could stop him. My fear was that he would run the ball 25 times and that he would use our teams excellent speed against us. Riley has a way of making a defense commit before he makes his move. Every game I watched had ten clear examples of good defensive players getting a bead on him only to whiff as Riley exploded in a totally unexpected direction. I will absolutely agree with MWittman's point that Lees was the MVP this year. Great kids at Lville, but with out Lees, they might be a .500 ball club while GW might still be a 10-2 or 11-2 team without Brodner.

Sorry to drone on again. I'm sure I am starting to get redundant.

My family and many at GW are now huge Lees fans. We look forward to watching Riley combine with JJ and other local kids to raise Northwestern to new heights. Cheers Ed
