Took my daughter to see it today. It's good, not great. Not up there with Iron Man or Ragnarok, but it's better than Dark World or either Iron Man sequel.

Also disappointed at the lack of *** on CM. They could have at least thrown some CGI in there to beef it up.

Saw it this morning. Thoroughly enjoyed it and the after credits scene sets it up nicely for Avengers: Endgame. Also loved the tribute to Stan Lee at the beginning.

After reading this thread with multiple comments about Brie Larson's cooking skills, ***, looks, laundry skills... all because a single movie was made with a female lead, I can't imagine why anyone would think we need to intentionally portray women in a strong and positive light. Clearly unnecessary.

You guys know your anger and dismissal for a movie with intentional female representation sort of proves the need for it, right? If you were to say, ignore it and focus on the merits of the movie (The way Bernie and a few others did.) you'd be making your case in a lot more compelling way.

They're entitled to their beliefs. I just wish the mods could/would keep them in the political thread and we could discuss things like movies without everything eventually leading back to Trump and Pelosi. The general discussion board gets harder and harder to navigate because of about a dozen guys who insist on it and aren't kept in their place.

Yea I think this might be my first thread over here, generally stay over in rafters and HOB during recruiting season. Can't say I fancy coming back, to your point I wanted to discuss the movie and its merits and well, you see what we got.

It has nothing to do with a female lead, it has to do with the character being rather boring.

Some characters make better supporting roles, Hulk, Antman, Dr Strange. Capt Marvel May fall in that category too.

I didn't think so, I loved the character. I'm pretty sure we have some ulterior motives in this thread. If you want to talk about why you didn't like it on merit, I'm all ears.

I thought both Ant-Man movies were fantastic. I liked watching a movie for once where stakes were smaller and more personal and the fate of the entire universe isn't at stake.

Loved them too and the dynamic between Ant-Man and his daughter was great, I think the only real aboslute clunker was The Hulk. Hopefully he gets another stand alone that can do the character justice.

One thing funny about all of the people that criticize comic book movies is that some probably don't realize the types of actors that are being put into them. In the past you wouldn't have seen it happen as often, but now it seems like everyone of the big names wants to have a role in them. I could see some of them choosing to be in these movies in the main role, but these are lesser roles.

Here is a list of some of the supporting actors/actresses that have taken roles in these films in the last 10 to 15 years or so.

Robert Redford
Annette Bening
Glenn Close
Morgan Freeman
Gary Oldman
Michael Caine
Anthony Hopkins
Liam Neeson
Jeff Bridges
Willem Dafoe
Ben Kingsley
Tommy Lee Jones
Kevin Spacey
Russell Crowe
Kevin Costner
Diane Lane
Michael Douglass

There are probably others, but these are some that were off the top of my head and with a little bit of research.

I was a huge fan of the Ant-Man movies as well. I didn't go into them with high expectations because I really didn't know what to expect with the character/s. I was pleasantly surprised. Marvel has done an excellent job with all of these movies and even the lesser characters were done well. I'm just curious if they can keep it going through the next phases after most of the current actors and characters are gone.

Definitely interesting thoughts. Even if it bombs out after Endgame the massive ride they gave us is pretty incredible and we'll always have that.

Many reimaginings of heroes over the years have continued to do well though so I wouldn't immediately dismiss the next phase.

I’m 100% for more women in leading roles

I’m 100% against women (and kiss *** men like Bristol) running their pie-holes about it non-stop. For example, Brie specifically said she doesn’t care what someone in my demographic thinks about her movie. Does that help get people on your side? No.
That was exactly my point but, because I am against it for any reason makes me against females in lead roles in the minds of people who cannot handle any opinion of it but their own. No different from pulling the race card because I did not agree with Obama. Some people know nothing more than what their world dictates and can see nothing else.

Meh. I’m also in that demographic but I honestly don’t give a **** what she thinks. If I started boycotting every movie, product, TV show, restaurant, network, etc that has someone involved that I don’t agree with, I’d die of boredom or starvation pretty fast.

Exactly. This says a lot more about you and what you believe than "The Hollywood actress made me mad because she said she doesn't care what I think."

John, lol. No one here is boycotting it. Just telling like it is. Brie Larson is a dishwasher and that's all she is good for. She has no *** so she probably can't f***. She's useless.

Yeah, not indifferent than boycotting Chick-Filet, or a bakery, or eateries that don't agree with you. It is easy to say that here but, I am willing to bet you have not involved yourself in some things in the past that were against your way of thinking.

She made a point that she did not care about my opinion, I simply agree with her that I don't need to spend my money there. Win-win. Don't think it will hurt sales at all, just makes me feel better not to give. Had that been her saying that about another demographic, we would have demonstration, violence, cars set on fire. I am doing it peaceably.

Another person called my demographic deplorable a while back and that did not help her cause much. That and she was a mean and ugly person.

I love Chick Fil A and I am pro choice, pro gheys, and think Jeebus is a fairy tale. As long as they make good chicken I'll continue to spend my money there.

I don't know if they went back and CGI'd it or what, but that butt looked good in the movie. Both in jeans and the costume.

Good movie. Maybe on the lower tier of Marvel movies, but I've been a big fan of most of these. I think the directors could have worked on the setup a little more. Big fan of the music, but there was one spot where the needle drop should have been orchestral instead of pop smash "just a girl"
