Final MC touchdown was a 75 yard interception return by 5'9" 279 pound Terrell Greer.

Rita is not a very good team this year. MC handed them 14 early points, and they did nothing with them. MC turnovers are horrible. Need to fix that before Rice and Loyola.

Score does not reflect the utter domination. Horrible performance by Rita. Totally manhandled. I think they only got about 20 yards of total offense.

MC has a great shot to win a title this year and might be even better next year with all the sophs and juniors playing for them; very scary.

Here is a paragraph from Beth's article:

"The steady rain continued through the third quarter. Mount Carmel got on the board first with a 79-yard run by senior AJ Reis to the St. Rita 4, one play later he would punch the ball in for a touchdown."

Yikes.

So the Rita at Provy game basically will be the make or break game for either of these teams since both have an L vs Loyola pretty much assured

It will be interesting to see what happens if Rita does not qualify for the playoffs this year. They appear to have a decent Soph team. Still let's say Rita goes 4-5 or 3-6 this year. Does Kuska return? In all reality I say yes - he's not one to leave something unfinished. However no secret of tension with him and AD.

Dean elaborate - they have their QB and a Soph RB that seems good - I know they lose quite a number of Seniors but I think they'll have 10 guys back - should allow them to hold their own? Granted I don't see them going 4-0 or 3-1, but perhaps 1-3 and 5-4 overall?

The likelihood of SR going 0-4 in the Blue next year is very high. This year's QB, though a very hard worker and a good kid, is simply not a very good QB. Its' possible that he makes great improvement, but I wouldn't bet on it. This year's soph team has a very limited number of players, and none appear to be ready to make an impact next year on the varsity level. Also, the record of the sophmore team is largely meaningless since the best sophmores usually play on the varsity level.

Most depressing is the frosh performance against MC. I was hoping that the frosh class was top notch, and wins against Loyola, Providence, and Brother Rice would probably warrant calling them great. But MC manhandled them on Saturday morning, so it is hard for me to get overly excited about the frosh class. Though wins over PC, Loyola, and BR will at least get my excitement level back up a bit.

I am a huge fan of Kuska personally, so it's hard for me to objectively comment on the coaching at 77th and western. The guy is tough, loyal, and sets a good example for the young men. And I like how he is willing to change with the times yet still makes sure the team understands/honors its working class history at 63rd & Claremont.

SR had a bad/very bad 3 year stretch at the end of the Wernet era and beginning of the Kuska era. So I am hoping that SR can rebound in a couple years, either with Kuska or some new guy. But I fear the circumstances facing the program now are totally different than 20 years ago. And I'm not that confident that SR can ever return to being a football power, regardless of the man running the program.
