It sucks to get your hopes up that you are going to pound the Dodgers, then watch as they get hit after hit off of your supposedly good pitching staff and sweep you out of the playoffs.

Not saying it will happen to you, but if it does, you were warned.

I really like how a Cubs fan said that the Cardinals have a "supposedly" good pitching staff...

We'll more than likely have 2 of the top 3 in the Cy Young voting.... and a third starter that'll be in the top 10.

We have two of the best Lefty Setup relievers in the game

And we have a closer who pitched beautifully for 95% of the season.

Carpenter will be just fine. You should stick to football comments, because you are clueless when it comes to baseball... being a Cubs fan already lets the world know of your stupidity.

All you girls need to get the sand out of your panties.

All I am saying is that it sucks, like it did in 08, to get your hopes up, like in 08, then watch the Dodgers get a lot of hits, like in 08, off your supposedly good pitching staff, like in 08.

I am fully aware of the Cardinals pitching staff. I am also aware that in 08, which was last year, that the Cubs entered the postseason with the best record in the NL and a pitching staff that was regarded as the best in the NL, and promptly got beat 100-2 in three games. And it sucked. So maybe that won't happen to you guys. But if it does, you were warned. I hate both the Cards and Dodgers so I really don't care who wins this series. I would be surprised if they Dodgers won it, but I was surprised last year when they swept the Cubs.

You may now return to your LaRussa circle jerk.

to professional teams as "we" as if you own or as if your *** is on the team.

Please accept my apologies in advance if your last name is Busch, LaRussa or Pujols.

Being in the playoffs or not being in the playoffs? As you say yourself, having the best record in the NL doesn't mean jack **** once playoff time comes around. The Cards have as much chance as the Dodgers do of winning this series. Hell, the 17ing Marlins have won the World Series twice but have never even won their own division.

Dawgatauburn - There's a huge difference between the Cards and Cubs when it comes to October baseball... I'm not sayin that the Cards can't be beat... but we sure as hell aren't known for it.

Barkman - I refer to the Cardinals as "we" because I grew up there... Just as I refer to MSU as "we" because I went to school there. It's not that hard of a concept to grasp. When you grow up in MS, it's hard to latch onto a pro team because there aren't any. Just like everyone in Louisiana is an LSU fan (even though most of them didn't finish the 10th grade), everyone in Missouri is a Cards fan.

And it really sucked in 06, when the Cardinals won the World Series, and like in 06 when they won 4 out of 5 against the Tigers and won their 10th World Series title while the Cubs finished the year at 66-96 behind the Pirates and Nationals. And yeah we are talking about 2006, not 1906 or 1908 when the Cubs last won a championship. And I don't mind going back to 06 because the Cubs ain't done nothing since then either.

I did not graduate from State, actually from Mississippi as JWS would say. But that was due to abnormal circumstances. I wore a state hat most every day. I was on cloud 9 as 13 year old when state beat Kentucky, sat in the floor and actually cried when they lost to Syracuse. I have watched or listened to every State game basketball or football the past 10 years. I was there to watch the dogpile and see the guy riding the tall bicycle in 07 against Clemson. I spend money buying MSU stuff and going to as many games as I can. If that doesnt qualify one to say "we" then I dont know what does.

Cubs fans talking **** to Cardinals fans is like either of our fanbases talking **** to LSU and Alabama. We can run all the smack we want, but deep down, we know they own us.

RounderReb, Bsquared, Missouridawg, joedawg........FAIL.

DeSoto, as the lone person with any sense, sorry about game 1. As I said, it sucks to get your hopes up about the playoffs and see the douchebag Dodgers spoil your party. I hate the Dodgers. But I hate the Cardinals too. Good luck in game two. sort of. I believe it was game two last year was when the Cubs played "kick the baseball" with the emotionally stable Carlos Zambrano on the hill.

No, I'd compare it more to Auburn, a team that has had much more success recently, but still hasn't been able to get it done on the big stage, except for one season of glory.

That's what the Cards are. For all those playoff appearances, they've only had one World Series since 1982. The Cubs choke in September, but the Cards traditionally choke in October.

Much like comparing Ole Miss/MSU to Auburn, I'd rather have Auburn's history, but still it's a franchise that typically fails, just at a higher level than the Cubs.
