This could be another reason for Wolf’s struggles (in addition to being a freshman):

“Coaching college athletes involves much more than Xs and Os, of course. For example, freshman forward/center Antwone Woolfolk was enjoying a promising campaign and then had to cope with the death of his grandmother.

“There are things no one realizes,” Pikiell said. “Woolf’s grandma died and he’s struggling with that. His grandma raised him, and he’s a great kid. You go through stuff like that.”

Excellent article and analysis as always by Jerry Carino !

Hoping for the best for Caleb but I’m not expecting to see Caleb vs Michigan. I’ve had ( and I’m sure many others have had) what Caleb experienced and it’s painful as hell. Actually the first time it occurred ironically for me was when I was 23 years old and it took me hours to somehow have enough strength / agility to crawl out of bed. For me, the pain goes away after several days but then again I’m not exerting the pressure on the back as Caleb does playing ball.

I also liked Jerry’s points on the newbies and converted football fans. Spot on !

Should be a banner on this board:

"Especially at Rutgers, where many of the fans are new and perhaps lacking the perspective of long-timers who suffered through decades of drought – or converted football fans who don’t quite grasp the ebbs and flows of a 31-game marathon."

Everyone who blasts the team or a player after a loss or bad performance should read this a few times. Who knows if they read these boards or other social media but it must be mentally draining to read about “this team will never win again” or “Cam is done” or whatever. They know when they are underperforming, they do not need some a$$hat fans bashing them for it.

““If you can’t get through a losing streak, you’re in the wrong league,” the coach said Sunday.

Meanwhile, Chris Holtmann...

I’ve had similar many many times and deal with back issues almost daily today…the result of many years of playing basketball 2/3 times a week until almost 50. Everyone and every injury is different but when I had what appeared to be a similar injury to his, it was about 3 days almost like clockwork, and then back to normal. Back issues suck and can drain the life out of you. Then a pickle ball injury 😳 had me on my back for nearly 6 weeks… My back issues are structural however, herniated l4, l5, etc while his might be muscular. Hoping for the best here. He’s in good hands.

That’s the big thing. This happens to you or I and we don’t have a PT team and team doctors working on us. Hopefully he can be ready by Thursday. We need everyone down the stretch.

Maybe more on the football board.
I think there is truth to what you initially posted. We can be a “wait for the other shoe to drop” fan base. I know I’m guilty of that at times. I just don’t share it here for the world to see. What good would that do anyway?

Mr Magoo comparing his pickeball back injury to what a top college athlete like McConnell is experiencing. Can’t even make this stuff up!

I kid you not..do not twist abruptly with herniated disks. I was really diggin’ that sport too 😃…but then again, you would know. You are mr twister
For guys, pickle ball is a pillow fight. I like the sport because it is very social (gals can complete with guys if they have a shred of athletic ability). Excellent players are dinking the ball 90% of the time. Not a lot of injuries. Corn hole probably has more casualties.
